Future of London has published a report which examines how London communities can grasp the regeneration potential of Crossrail stations and of future infrastructure projects. Presentations are also available to two seminar held earlier in 2014. The first seminar, “Maximising Crossrail: The experience so far” held on 30 January 2014 , and the second, “Maximising Crossrail: Is collaboration the catalyst?”, held on 25 February 2014.

NBS National BIM Report 2014

This annual document is described as the most comprehensive and trusted report on BIM, its use and adoption, drawing on over 1,000 responses from across the industry. This year’s highlights include: awareness of BIM is now at 95%; over half of respondents now use BIM; and 93% predict adoption by 2016.

Changes to the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and section 106 regimes announced in February 2014 will not lead to more homes being delivered, according to a survey of developers. This presentation was presented at a seminar on 27 March 2014.

Videos are now on YouTube of the first two Landscape Futures debates, held in Sheffield and Birmingham. The Sheffield debate was on the subject ‘Making the World we Want’. A challenging talk by Jonathon Porritt of Forum for the Future opened the series, arguing that the sustainability imperative must be integral to land use planning, and asking whether landscape education was equipping tomorrow’s professionals to work with the global challenges we face. Pam Warhurst responded by focusing on local scale activism, and the power that communities have to shape their landscapes, in this instance through urban food growing in Todmorden. The Birmingham debate asked the question ‘How can we build beautiful places?’

The Building Excellence in Sustainable Tourism Education Network (BEST EN) provides free teaching modules on sustainable tourism generated by BEST EN. The course material is open to educators, students and the industry to learn and collaborate for sustainable tourism education. Each of the individual tutorials is comprised of a video, slides, literature and case study suggestions as well as students assignments aimed at the bachelor level. A blogging function is provided for feedback and commentary.
