The government’s Airports Commission has released a consultation paper as part of its investigation into potential new runways in the southeast of England. The consultation is focusing on the role that regional airports will play in the future against the backdrop of the current options focused on Heathrow, Gatwick and the Thames estuary. Comments are requested by 25 July 2014.

The Turley Housing Updates study, presented in nine separate regional reports, examines the latest five-year housing requirement of England and Wales’ 318 local planning authorities, excluding London, between April 2013 and April 2018 and compared it to their land supply positions.

The Royal Institution of British Architects helps to develop and apply the research-based knowledge of RIBA members, chartered practices and schools of architecture in order to promote links between practice and academia, and to position the RIBA as a trusted research facilitator for architecture and the related built environment professions. The primary research theme for 2014 is ‘Ageing and the built environment’. The primary research theme for 2015 will be ‘Design quality and performance’. This page provides links to videos of speakers at the 2014 symposium, and a series of documents which focus on the relationship between practicing architects and research.

Infrastructure Bill 2014-15

The government has published the Infrastructure Bill which aims to help create stable long term funding for work on the country’s major road network ensuring smoother, quicker and quieter journeys and make it easier to sell surplus and redundant public sector land and property to help build more homes on brownfield land. The legislation will also give local people the right to buy a stake in renewable energy projects, while cutting red tape for nationally significant infrastructure projects to boost investment.
National Heritage Protection Plan Review of Progress and Impact 2011-2015: Final Report

A supplementary report which presents an analysis of Section 10 of the online survey which captured respondents’ views on the current plan’s activities and supporting actions, has also been made available on the English Heritage website.
