The Natural Environment White Paper, The natural choice: securing the value of nature, published in 2011, recognised that a healthy natural environment is the foundation of sustained economic growth, prospering communities and personal wellbeing. It sets out how the value of nature can be mainstreamed across our society by facilitating local action; strengthening the connections between people and nature; creating a green economy and showing leadership in the EU and internationally. It set out 92 specific commitments for action. Since its publication in 2011 Defra has published periodic implementation update newsletters, highlighting significant progress since the last update. This document summarises this information and sets it out in one place. It lists all 92 commitments and sets out the status of each commitment and where further information can be found.
