Global affordable housing report: BRICs plus mortar

This report investigates how housing systems in Brazil, China and India are changing in response to economic developments. It conducts a review of the following: developments in housing demand and need; the nature of supply systems; responses to demand pressures; significant policy developments; and major housing outcomes. From its extensive analysis it draws some high level recommendations which can direct housing and urbanisation policy in the BRICs nations as well as in the OECD economies. These include the importance of providing the necessary high level support for local housing needs and initiatives, and an alignment between housing policies and the development of city infrastructure.
