The Bishop review was commissioned by the Design Council at the time of its merger with the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE). It addresses the central question of how good architectural, landscape and urban design can be achieved within a national agenda that focuses, on the one hand, on creating the conditions for the UK’s long term economic prosperity and, on the other, on the devolution of power to local communities. Specifically, the report calls for Design Review to be decentralised and made more accessible and responsive to local people and developers. A copy of the review, background details and debate from the launch event.
