Closed for lunch 12pm - 1pm each day

Placing a monetary value on ecosystem services

This Policy Position Statement reviews the use of monetary valuation techniques (both market based and non market based) as part of the broader policy of adopting an ecosystem services approach (ESA), which has gained acceptance globally and is increasingly of interest in the UK.  In doing so this PPS sets out the position of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environment Management (CIWEM) on the use and appropriateness of adopting monetary valuation methods based upon advice from, and ethical concerns raised by, its membership.
