Sustain held this event in order to introduce private landlords to the Green Deal due to be launched in 2012, and the accompanying Energy Company Obligation (ECO). In addition, Sustain highlighted the support currently available for energy efficiency improvements, including grant funding. The event was supported by the Department of Energy and Climate Change with Emma Bulmer giving the Government’s perspective. Presentations are available online.

The aim of this conference and workshop, organised by Directorate General Regional Policy, was to inform participants about developments at EU level which are relevant to the period 2014-2020, and to focus on implementation difficulties encountered and possible solutions for the future. Background papers are available, together with presentations from sessions which examined: social and economic benefits of investing in energy efficiency in buildings; financial instruments for energy efficiency investments; energy efficiency and innovation; Framework conditions relevant to investments; and experience with investing in EE in buildings in the Member States.

The last of the URSULA (Urban River Corridors and Sustainable Living Agendas) conferences  provided a forum for the presentation of a wealth of research conducted during the URSULA project.  Topics included how the River Don affects Sheffield’s microclimate, how the river could be harnessed to deliver hydropower, the effect of weirs in river ecology, the effect of biodiversity on wellbeing, as well as the approach developed in URSULA to design sustainable urban river corridors.
