This report, published by Atkins in unique partnership with the Department for International Development (DFID) and University College London (UCL), assesses the risks to cities from climate hazards, resource scarcities, and damage to ecosystems and how they can act now to future proof themselves. Covering 129 cities, totalling 350 million people in 20 countries, this report identifies practical measures that cities can take to now manage these future risks.

The Crossrail Graduate Scheme is a brand new programme for 2013 offering graduate engineers the opportunity to play a key role in Europe’s largest tunnelling and underground construction project. The scheme will start with an intake of eight graduates each year for the next four years. For successful applicants, the programme lasts for two years during which you will undertake four structured placements whilst working towards your professional chartered status.

The House of Commons Northern Ireland Affairs Committee has published the findings of its inquiry into an air transport strategy for Northern Ireland. The inquiry considered: the implications of current air links for Northern Ireland, specifically the economy and the effect on people’s social and family lives; regional and international connectivity; the lack of public transport links to, and between, Belfast International, Belfast City and City of Derry airports; the implications for Northern Ireland of the Civil Aviation Bill; the implications of the proposed takeover of bmi by the International Airlines Group, and tax policy.

In 2002 the Department of Health (DH) produced one of the first country-specific reports detailing the impact climate change is having and is likely to have on the health of UK citizens. Produced jointly by the DH and the Health Protection Agency, the third edition of this work and includes new chapters on aeroallergens, the indoor environment and health co-benefits to be reaped from action on climate change.
