It will investigate: the major forces of change that impact on the High Street; what change can be managed at a local level; and strategies for repositioning, reinventing, rebranding and restructuring the High Street.
Working together to save energy

The final report of the Kingston University Smart Communities project has been published, together with presentations from a conference which was held to launch the report. In broad terms, the Smart Communities findings support the contemporary policy focus on demand-side action, community energy and energy consumption feedback. At the same time, the project highlights the long term and challenging nature of these strategies, and the implications of this for funding. The findings emphasis a lack of energy know-how among householders as a key constraint on change, and identifies ways in which more widespread know-how might be developed.

The Scottish Government has published final versions of two of its key planning documents, the National Planning Framework 3 (NPF3) and Scottish Planning Policy (SPP) http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Resource/0045/00453827.pdf . The NPF3 sets out the government’s development priorities and identifies 14 national developments and other strategically important projects. SPP, Scotland’s equivalent of England’s National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), guides how applications, development plans and appeals should be dealt with.
