The theme of this Conference was “Sustainability of air transport” and the objectives of the conference were to develop guidelines and an action plan for a global regulatory framework. ICT4E2B Forum partners presented their project’s final results about the role of ICT for Energy efficient buildings to an audience of over 120 attendees. The project funded by DG CONNECT and developed within the framework of the Energy-efficient Buildings Public Private Partnership (EeB PPP) initiative, has performed a deep analysis of the research challenges and innovation priorities that ICT will have to address in future. These recommendations have been duly taken into account in the new Roadmap developed by E2BA towards a possible continuation of the EeB PPP within Horizon 2020. The Local Government Association launched its Climate Local initiative in June 2012 to support councils to make the most of opportunities for people, the local economy and jobs through action on climate change. This conference brought together representatives from the first Climate Local councils and beyond to hear the latest examples of council-led action and to discuss priorities for the sector. The 6th Urban Research and Knowledge Symposium sought to contribute and inform policy choices that can help policymakers manage potential economic efficiency, environmental sustainability and social equity tradeoffs associated with urbanization. The Symposium was organized by The World Bank in partnership with the City of Barcelona and some key partners, and provided a global forum for urban stakeholders, and all who are interested in cities, to discuss and exchange knowledge on urban matters of how to make policy choices under resource constraints and uncertainty that will minimise lock-in and path dependency at later stages of urban development.
