The National Adaptation Programme report sets out what leading businesses, councils and communities, as well as government, are doing to tackle climate threats. The Programme is divided into chapters looking at the: Built environment; Infrastructure; Healthy and resilient communities; Agriculture and forestry; Natural environment; and Business and local government. A separate analytical annex contains the current evidence base for adaptation decision-making. It presents the analysis that informs the National Adaptation Programme’s approach to adaptation to climate change.

The Knowledge Navigator: Your guide to key climate change platforms

The ever-growing number of knowledge sharing platforms on climate change and development has meant that users of climate knowledge are often unsure which services are most appropriate to their needs. Eldis has recently added a new interactive tool, the Knowledge Navigator, to the Climate Change Resource Guide which aims to help users tackle this problem.

London Planning Officers’ attitudes towards recent planning regulation changes

In a survey of 20 London boroughs carried out by Sitematch London, more than half (53 per cent) of planners said the National Planning Policy Framework has had no beneficial effects in their borough. This compared to 26 per cent who thought it had helped, and 21 per cent who were unsure.

National environmental performance on planetary boundaries

This report examines whether and how the planetary boundaries framework offers tools and perspectives on how to work with the two-way interaction between Swedish and global environmental pressures and performance described above. The planetary boundaries concept was presented in 2009 and provides a novel synthesis of the most pertinent global environmental challenges by analysing the risk of crossing critical thresholds in the behaviour of the Earth system’s processes. The report claims to provide a first attempt to develop a methodology for downscaling planetary boundaries to nationally relevant ones.

HCA Corporate Plan 2013-15

This Corporate Plan is focused on the remaining years of the spending review (2013-2015). The Homes and Communities Agency’s activity in future years will depend in part of decisions made as part of the 2015/16 Spending Round, including the response to the Heseltine review and the introduction of the single local growth fund from 2015. For this reason, the outcome of these and their implications to the HCA will be covered in next year’s Corporate Plan or, if appropriate, through an addendum to this plan published later in the year.
