The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Wellbeing Economics has published its first report, following a year-long inquiry exploring how wellbeing evidence can be translated into policy in four diverse areas: labour markets, planning and transport, mindfulness in health and education, and arts and culture.

The House of Commons Library has published a planning reform briefing note providing a comprehensive outline of the Coalition’s planning reforms since the introduction of the Localism Act in 2011 and the National Planning Policy Framework in 2012.

NBS has developed a BIM Object Standard for use by all construction professionals, from specifiers to manufacturers and BIM content developers. The NBS BIM Object Standard not only constitutes what a high quality BIM object needs to be, but also, and of equal importance, provides consistency to both content and structure of manufacturers’ products. This new standard will play a significant role in helping to shape and mould the industry on its journey towards the 2016 deadline for the use of level 2 BIM on all Government funded projects.

Siemens and the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group (C40) have announced the winners of the City Climate Leadership Awards 2014. The Awards honour cities all over the world for excellence in urban sustainability and leadership in the fight against climate change. The winning cities are:Amsterdam (Finance and Economic Development); Barcelona (Intelligent City Infrastructure); Buenos Aires (Solid Waste Management); London (Carbon Measurement & Planning and Air Quality); Melbourne (Adaptation & Resilience); New York City (Energy Efficient Built Environment); Portland (Sustainable Communities); Seoul (Green Energy); Shenzhen (Urban Transportation); and Taipei (Citizen’s Choice).

LuminoCity3D.org is a mapping platform designed to explore the performance and dynamics of cities in Great Britain. The site brings together a wide range of key city indicators, including population, growth, housing, travel behaviour, employment, business location and energy use. These indicators are mapped using a new 3D approach that highlights the size and density of urban centres, and allows relationships between urban form and city performance to be analysed.
