It points built environment professionals towards the best available resources to help make projects, organisations and products as sustainable as possible. Covering all sustainability topics, right across the built environment, it also provides peer reviews from industry professionals and allows users to upload resources themselves.

Engineering the Shard

This programme looks at how engineers WSP helped the architect realise his design for the Shard in one of the most constrained sites imaginable. The programme focuses on three main areas: top down construction, the building’s hybrid concrete and steel structure and construction of the building’s 60m tall spire.

The aim of the Conference is to be a forum to exchange views, opinions and experience on MHCL from technical viewpoints in order to track the current achievements, but also to look at to future developments. Low carbon routemap for the built environment

The Green Construction Board has developed the Low Carbon Routemap for the Built Environment to serve as a visual tool enabling stakeholders to understand the policies, actions and key decision points required to achieve the UK Government target of 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in the built environment against 1990 levels by 2050. The Routemap also sets out actions, together with key performance indicators that can be used to deliver and measure progress in meeting the 2050 target. The Routemap covers both infrastructure and buildings sectors, and addresses segments of operational and capital (embodied) carbon emissions.

CIC Start Online Innovation Review is published quarterly. It provides: articles and interviews regarding expertise available and research undertaken/planned at the partners` institutions on sustainable building design and refurbishment; case studies of testing in laboratories at the partners` institutions; articles on collaboration with construction industry in research, development and testing of innovations; brief reports on feasibility studies undertaken and academic consultancy provided through the project; articles by practitioners involved in sustainable building design, construction and refurbishment; and information on products and processes developed in Scotland for sustainable built environment. The most recent issue, February 2013, contains articles on: Embedding post occupation evaluation into practice; Driving measurable change for sustainability; Developing robust solutions for roof upgrades; and Overcoming the challenges and barriers for innovation in construction.

European Architectural Barometer

In 2009 Arch-Vision launched the European Architectural Barometer. The European Architectural Barometer presents a view on the construction market (future buildings volumes and major building tends)  for France, Germany, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, the UK, Belgium and Poland. 1.600 architects are interviewed every quarter, and based on this information, a building volume prediction model has been developed which describes the construction outlooks for the current and the coming 2 years. Each quarter also focuses on a specific building trends or main marketing topic like sustainability, information sources, building information modeling, technology trends, design trends, etc. This information helps to identify opportunities and is useful by the determination of the marketing strategy. Full results are only available on subscription, but press releases provide a summary of the findings.
