Box of Broadcasts (BoB) is having an upgrade, ready for the new launch on 6th January 2014, BoB will be closed from 5pm on 13th December until 23rd December 2013. The upgrade is the most substantial update to BoB National since its launch in 2009 and will result in a range of new features and much more content, including: Over 1 million TV and radio programmes available, including all BBC TV and radio content dating from mid-2007; More than ten foreign language channels; An extended 30-day recording buffer; Display and search transcripts and thumbnails; Watch BoB on your handheld device; An improved way to create clips, playlists and clip compilations; An easy one-click citation to reference programmes in your work; A new-look website and improved navigation; Share what you’re watching on Twitter; Add You-Tube style comments on programmes and clips.

English Heritage has published its 12th annual survey of the England’s historic environment. The 2013 report focuses on skills shortages and publishes new research which reveals that over 40% of cultural heritage organisations feel their workforce currently lack skills and 60% do not have a training budget. In addition to information on skills, Heritage Counts summarises key policy changes and performance indicators for the sector.

This report explores the body of knowledge and skills required for effective and desirable real estate practice. The research aims to assist real estate educators and practitioners to align educational outcomes with workplace needs and industry requirements. This study concludes that more practice based knowledge should be identified and used for professional accreditation, real estate education and practitioner development. The research framework structures the compiled body of knowledge thus connecting the parts that constitute the real estate profession and demonstrate the true worth of real estate practice.

QUEST stands for Qualitative Expertise at Southampton. It is a group that brings together staff from across the University who have expertise in the development, application and teaching of qualitative methods. On this site you can find out about events and research organized by QUEST and search the QUEST database for people with expertise in particular methods. QUEST runs events that bring qualitative researchers from across the University into dialogue with each other and with qualitative experts from other institutions, as well as collaborative events with other qualitative research groups outside of Southampton. It also makes information about the events and video and audio recordings of presentations available.

This longitudinal study has identified trends in demands and expectations from students new to university; tracked longitudinal attitudes from first-year students as they progress their university careers; captured student opinions both pre and post increase in tuition fees.

Research into student attitudes towards, and skills for, sustainable development (SD) was conducted in 2012, continuing research from 2010 and 2011. This longitudinal study has identified trends in demands and expectations from students new to university; tracked longitudinal attitudes from first-year students as they progress their university careers; captured student opinions both pre and post increase in tuition fees. The report found that more than 80% of students surveyed believe sustainable development should be actively promoted and incorporated by UK universities, a belief which increases as they progress through their studies. In the survey’s third year the research strengthens the conclusion of the two previous reports, showing that interest in sustainable development remains strong among students throughout their university careers and with the introduction of increased tuition fees.
