The Journal of Information Technology in Construction (ITcon) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal on the use of IT in architecture, civil engineering and facility management. ITcon articles are submitted and published electronically only. The Journal is committed to minimizing publication delays, and to promoting maximum flexibility in the ways that readers use the journal for teaching, research, and scholarship while maintaining strict peer-review standards. ITcon is an Open Access journal and its articles can freely and with no charge be read by anybody who has an Internet connection. The copyright of the articles remains with the authors, from the start of 2009. Issues are published on an annual basis, dating back to 1996.

Since 2008, Be2camp social media advocates have been helping the architecture, engineering, construction (AEC) and related industries think about and deploy Web 2.0 tools and techniques. Winners of the 2012 Be2camp awards were announced on 26 September 2012, including best AEC collaboration application; best AEC community, network or application; best AEC social media blog; best AEC use of Twitter; best use of Web 2.0 for construction products.

The symposium focused on the issue of ICTs, the environment and climate change in the world and the needs for the use of ICTs to promote environmental sustainability. Topics discussed included mitigation and adaptation to climate change, e-waste management, disaster preparedness and emergency communications, cost-effective ICT technologies, methodologies for the environmental impact assessment of ICTs, challenges and opportunities in the transition to a green and resource efficient economy, among others. The symposium concluded with the Montreal Declaration which identifies possible goals, commitments and modalities of ICT sector commitments to be developed in the process leading to the 2012 ITU World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-12) and United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD 2012 or Rio+20), strengthening at the same time the collaboration between the ICT and environmental communities.
Virtual Training Suite

The Virtual Training Suite aims to help university students to develop Internet research skills to assist with their university coursework and assignments. Over 60 free Internet tutorials are on offer, each covering Internet research skills for a different subject, with a few extras covering skills that are relevant across disciplines. The tutorials were written by a team of UK university lecturers and librarians. Each tutorial is divided into four main sections, which enable you to:
TOUR – the best of the Web for your subject of study.
DISCOVER – how to find scholarly information online.
JUDGE – which Internet resources are appropriate for university work.
SUCCESS – learn by example, how to use the Internet for academic research.

During Ecobuild 2012, held in London on 20-22 March 2012, NBS (National Building Specification) hosted a series of BITESized talk. These 15 minute talks were delivered by a host of leading authors and high profile guests, covering a wide range of topic areas such as Uniclass, sustainable design, the NBS National BIM Library, social media as a sustainable communication tool.
