Since 2008, a significant part of the RTPI’s research work has been focused on encouraging academics’ involvement in a European research programme called ESPON. The programme, which covers the EU27 plus Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Switzerland, aims to add to the bank of spatial evidence available to those developing place-based policy. The aim of the 2nd Delft international conference is to create a conversation between people from several disciplines that not often talk to each other; namely, between practitioners of CTC, cognitive scientists of spatial behavior, planning and design; researchers of design thinking, urban planners and urban designers. English Heritage has published its 12th annual survey of the England’s historic environment. The 2013 report focuses on skills shortages and publishes new research which reveals that over 40% of cultural heritage organisations feel their workforce currently lack skills and 60% do not have a training budget.
