The aviation policy framework sets out the government’s policy to allow the aviation sector to continue to make a significant contribution to economic growth across the country. It provides the baseline for the Airports Commission to take into account on important issues such as aircraft noise and climate change. It also sets out the government’s objectives on the issues which will challenge and support the development of aviation across the UK.

The theme of this Conference was “Sustainability of air transport” and the objectives of the conference were to develop guidelines and an action plan for a global regulatory framework. This will be developed in areas such as air carrier ownership and control, market access, consumer protection and taxation, while focusing on the best means of implementation with the aim to build a more sustainable international air transport system. A wide range of documentation is available online.

This report, published by the British Parking Association, examines car parking in town centres, argues that high streets shows no conclusive evidence that parking tariffs are influencing decline in locations across the UK, and suggests that further research is needed.

The Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) has issued a set of guidelines on ways to implement three key aspects of intelligent transport systems in urban areas: travel information, travel management and smart ticketing. These guidelines, which include a set of good practices shared by European cities, were developed by an expert group set up by the European Commission.
