Week One – Pilot Show
- Researched and recorded features as well as editing then
- Presented the pilot which I approached with confidence however, my expectations were set to high
- Prepared the music for the show and ran the clock
- Amended the running order to ensure the show runs smoothly
- Received feedback on the show and found there was a lot to work on
- Recorded + Edited Consumer Advice Expert
Throughout the week came regularly working outside hours to ensure the student was set up correctly. Amended studio levels to make the show sound more balanced.
Week Two – First Week Show
- Improved on feedback given to make my features tighter and with a specific focus
- The show went a lot more smoothly with additional practice
- Music selection was good but talking up to time needs practicing
- Reviewed running order – uploaded everything to Zetta eg. Idents, music, features
- Recorded + Edited Caravan Holidays Feature
Throughout the week I will be improving speaking up to time as well as the interaction between presenters. I will have to run the clock prior to next week’s show as well as record and edit my feature pieces.
Week Three – Second Week Show
- Improved on feedback given to make the music selection more diverse with female voices
- Spoke up to time much better than previous weeks. Still need to improve so it doesn’t sound like we are filling to time
- Reviewed running order – uploaded new features for this week, sourced songs that needed sourcing
- Presented the show confidently
- Recorded + Edited Walking Holidays Feature + North Wales Resident
Throughout the week I will be working on and editing pieces and also be taking an overall editorial role while Joe has his operation. I will also be doing work on the running order and making sure the music selection is diverse with more music by people with colour.
Week Four – Third Week Show
- Improved on feedback given to make the music selection more diverse with female voices
- Wrote stronger cues to make the presenting a lot stronger with Joe. Discussion between presenters is stronger.
- Reviewed running order – uploaded new features for this week, consciously made an effort to include more BAME artists
- Presented the show confidently however this week I found it difficult because of a lack of contribution and effort made by other people.
Throughout the week I will be working on and editing pieces and also be referring back to the music policy, so the show has a coherent flow. Had meetings with Joe and Billy to talk through social media and what music needed sourcing.
Week Five – Fourth Week Show
- Final Week of the show we freestyled more chat between presenters that I felt went well. Confidently drove the desk.
- Wrote cues with Joe to make the build-up to pieces stronger.
- Constructed the running order – uploaded new features for this week, consciously made an effort to get a mix of Christmas music and not Christmas music.
- Presented the show confidently for the very last time. Spoke to time better on songs.
- Worked across a number of pieces editing them for Joe.
Overall, I really enjoyed working as part as a team. Sometimes it was frustrating. Throughout the 4 weeks I made a number of pieces throughout. Over the 4 weeks I recorded the interview with our consumer advice expert as well as working on pieces of my own. Structurally I think the show went well and I’m pleased with the fact we had 5 people working that we managed to produce so much. At times if I’m honest it felt like myself and Joe were leading the show and without us, I felt the show might have not come together too well. We kept working hard and overall, I’m proud with what everyone came together to produce by the end of Week 4.
