SOS – SZA is releasing a new album after five years

SOS available for pre-save on Apple Music

This is not a drill, SZA’s second studio album is coming out this week.

The R&B singer has confirmed that her newest album, SOS is set to be released on the 9th of December via social media. It is now available to be pre-saved on Apple Music.

On the 3rd of December, SZA performed on SNL – which was hosted by Keke Palmer – where she performed Shirt, a track on SOS. To fans’ surprise, ‘SOS’ and ’12/9′ appeared on the screen behind her.

She released a track list late yesterday, revealing that the album will include 23 songs.

The newest addition to SZA’s discography includes songs featuring artists such as Scott Street singer Phoebe Bridgers and SICKO MODE rapper Travis Scott, who has collaborated with SZA in the past for the song Love Galore. Bridgers will appear on the song Ghost in the Machine, whilst Scott is featuring on Open Arms

Fans are especially surprised by Bridgers’ involvement in SOS

SZA has also released a preview of Nobody Gets Me, the 14th track on the album, on YouTube.

This album includes much loved songs such as Good Days, the TikTok viral track I Hate U and Shirt, which she released a music video for in late October. The music video co-stars actor LaKeith Stanfield. Since first being dropped in 2020, Good Days has received a Grammy nomination for ‘Best R&B Song’.

The singer posted the album cover for SOS on the 30th of November, which shows the singer sitting on the edge of a plank suspended above the ocean. Some have speculated that this cover is a homage to the late Princess Diana.

It has been five years since SZA’s first studio album, the highly acclaimed Ctrl – it hasn’t taken long for fans to share their overwhelming excitement for the artist’s full-length return.

Words: Ashreya Jimi | Subbing: Elitsa Maymareva
