An experience abroad can give you insights, skills and lasting memories that will enrich your studies and broaden your career options.
Studying Abroad
“I’m currently spending a semester at the University of Technology, Sydney as part of my degree. It’s been an amazing experience so far, from exploring Sydney’s beaches and the Blue Mountains to diving into academic life. I’ve loved the cultural differences, made great friends and tried loads of new foods at local markets. I’m learning so much both in and outside the classroom and I’m so glad I took the chance to study abroad!”
Victoria – Software Engineering with Electronics BEng
Summer Work Placements
“During my placement in Malta, I got to work in different labs, doing everything from examining tissues to studying cancer at a molecular level. It was intense but amazing – definitely not your average summer abroad!”
André, Pharmacology and Physiology BSc graduate
Volunteering
“During the summer, I had the incredible opportunity to volunteer in Sri Lanka with Travelteer, an organisation dedicated to making a positive impact. I taught English to underprivileged children – an experience that was both humbling and inspiring. The journey broadened my perspective and deepened my commitment to making a positive difference in the world.”
Raghav, Business Management (Marketing) BA graduate
Summer Schools
“I was lucky enough to get a place at Copenhagen Business School to study Business and Social Data Science. I also received the Global Experience Bursary, which helped cover my travel and accommodation costs. The course introduced me to R programming and really boosted my data analysis skills, which was perfect for my degree.
I met students from around the world and formed great friendships. We visited cities across Denmark and even took a trip to Sweden. The teaching was excellent and the whole experience gave me new perspectives on both my subject and the world.”
Ryan, FinTech with Data Analytics BSc
Westminster Working Cultures
“I was fortunate to take part in Westminster Working Cultures in both the UK and Toronto – two of my favourite experiences at the University. These five-day programmes were packed with workshops, skills sessions and networking opportunities with Westminster alumni across different industries. They helped me grow my business knowledge, develop transferable skills, and gain confidence in meeting new people.”
Wiktoria – Biochemistry BSc graduate
Academic Field Trips
“As part of our Practice module, we visited Paris for four days and it was such an inspiring experience. The tutors took care of all the logistics, so we could focus on exploring the city’s galleries, museums, and art scene. One of my favourite exhibitions featured giant cartoon-like sculptures that really influenced my soft sculpture work. I even took part in a performance piece, which pushed me out of my comfort zone in a great way. Beyond the art, I loved discovering the city, especially Belleville’s bakeries and dinner with a view of the Eiffel Tower! The trip gave me fresh ideas, boosted my confidence, and has already impacted the work I’m creating now.”
