Mughda Vaid, a third-year student on our Digital Media and Communication BA course takes us through her week balancing work, study, and fun.
Monday: A Productive Start to the Week
Mondays don’t get me down, in fact, they’re my perfect launchpad for the week. Unlike many students, I don’t have classes on Mondays. Instead, I kick off the week by working at the University of Westminster Student Union (UWSU) shop on Harrow Campus. The UWSU shop is your one-stop shop for students to get all their essentials from branded clothing, snacks to meal deals and toiletries.
Living in campus halls means no morning commute, just a quick walk to work. It’s a productive yet relaxed way to ease into the week, and it sets a positive tone for everything that follows.
Tuesday: A Relaxed Start with Classes
Tuesdays are all about balance. With my first class starting at 1pm, I get to enjoy a slow, stress-free morning. As a Digital Media and Communication student, my workshops are engaging, and our tutors bring a lot of energy to the sessions. After my 1–3pm class, I usually spend some quiet time at the library, catching up on readings and assignments.
My Tuesdays end with a meaningful tradition: a trip to Oxford Circus to visit the temple. It’s my moment of reflection and peace, the perfect way to wind down the day.
Wednesday: My Favourite Day
Midweek is my absolute favourite! Wednesdays are packed with activities, but they’re also the most fulfilling. My day starts early with a lecture from 11 am–12 pm, followed by a seminar from 12 pm–1 pm. Lunch with my best friend during the one-hour break is always a highlight—we catch up, share laughs, and recharge for the rest of the day. The highlight of my Wednesday, though, is my radio show, Bollywood Dhamka, which I host on Smoke Radio, our university’s in-house station. From 2–3 pm, I get to share my love for Bollywood music and connect with listeners, making every Wednesday truly special.
Thursday: Focused on Work and Study
Thursdays are my quieter, more focused days. Without any classes scheduled, I dedicate the day to studying at the library and working on assignments. Sometimes, I squeeze in a shift at the UWSU shop, but it’s generally a low-key day that allows me to catch my breath after the busyness of Wednesday. It’s the perfect setup to prepare for the weekend.
Friday: The Ultimate ‘Friyay’
Fridays are the grand finale of the week, a mix of work and play! My day starts early with a lecture from 10am–1pm. While I’m not exactly a morning person, the two breaks during class give me the chance to indulge in a chocolate croissant from the Harrow Campus café—my weekly treat. If I’m scheduled to work, I head straight to the UWSU shop after class. Otherwise, I dive headfirst into the weekend, as Fridays are my designated “go-out” nights, filled with fun and laughter.
Weekends: A Time to Recharge
After a busy week, weekends are my time to relax, catch up with friends, and prepare for the week ahead. Whether it’s exploring London, attending events on campus, or simply enjoying some downtime, the weekends are always something to look forward to.
