The 2025 Indian Alumni Survey aimed to better understand how our alumni community in India prefers to engage with the University, receive communications, and participate in alumni-led initiatives. The responses have provided valuable insights into how we can strengthen our connections, create more meaningful opportunities, and build an even more vibrant alumni network.
Who responded?
112 alumni completed the survey. The majority of responses came from alumni based in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai, representing a strong cross-section of our Indian alumni community. A small number of Indian alumni based in the UK also responded and expressed interest in staying connected with India-based initiatives.
Key insights & next steps
Events:
- Insight: Most alumni prefer structured gatherings once or twice a year, focusing on networking, social interaction, and student support.
- Next step: We will continue running an annual formal event in major cities in India and look at adding another informal event across the year, plus introducing themed events
Communication & Channels:
- Insight: Email remains the preferred communication channel, however WhatsApp and LinkedIn are popular for informal or timely updates.
- Next step: We will continue to communicate across channels, and use social communication platforms for supplementary information (eg. WhatsApp and the Westminster Alumni LinkedIn and Instagram accounts)
Alumni engagement:
- Insight: Alumni would like to feel more connected with the University and would like to participate in consistent and engaging activities
- Next step: We will continue to explore new ways to engage with alumni, and share more opportunities for India alumni to get involved
Willingness to contribute:
- Insight: Nearly 60% of respondents are willing to give back to the Westminster community in some way
- Next step: Continue to highlight opportunities (mentoring, volunteering, sharing your story) to support the Westminster community
Westminster Alumni Community Leader role
To support with building local alumni communities, the Alumni Community Leader role has been established and will be piloted in India. Alumni Community Leaders will serve as the main point of contact for the University of Westminster’s alumni in your local area. This volunteer role involves social event planning, communication, and community engagement. Leaders are expected to organise at least 1–2 social events per year, share relevant opportunities and news, and support the growth of Westminster’s global alumni network while fostering an inclusive and connected community. More information can be found here.
Conclusion
The 2025 Indian Alumni Survey highlights a strong desire for structured engagement, consistent communication, and meaningful opportunities to contribute. By acting on these insights, particularly through enhanced events, targeted communication, and local leadership initiatives, we are looking forward to working with you to strengthen our alumni network and foster a more connected, empowered global community.
