Dear Alumni,
It is great to be back following the festive break. Our campuses are full of energy and activity as we embark on our second semester of this academic year. I hope you remember feeling that similar energy when you were studying with us too.
Alongside all our educational programmes, delivered through our superb and mainly practice-based physical and digital facilities, our clubs, events, conferences and sports programmes are flourishing, with more than 10,000 active participants from our community. Our Westminster Dragons sports teams across an array of different disciplines are doing so well at our Regent Street campus, Chiswick and in our ‘Den’ – home of the Dragons – new sports facility at Harrow.
Our work to support the employment of our students continues to grow and flourish. We are so grateful for the efforts so many of you put into this through your participation as mentors, speakers on our programmes, and most significantly provision of placements, internships and jobs. We would very much like to grow this further, so please wherever you work in the world, and within whatever discipline, do be in touch if you would be able to support the employment of our students – who, like you, will be excellent to employ, sharing as we do wonderful values, and a way of applying knowledge and talent that helps businesses to thrive.
We have so many highlights we could share from 2024, and I have listed a few of them below. I know there will be many more in 2025 and beyond.
Highlights from 2024

I spent 6 years at the Polytechnic of Central London, receiving a first class honours degree followed by a PhD in 1982. I have spent my working life developing science based businesses (some of which were sold to multi-national companies). Unfortunately, CNAA became defunct many years ago, so I no longer have an alma mater. Given that I completed my PhD at the Poly, I can’t understand why my PhD can’t be updated with a Westminster University PhD. This has been a cause of frustration for me for most of my life and I wonder if the University would consider updating my PhD, particularly since I suspect that most of my cohort will have retired.
Hi Brian,
Thanks very much for getting in touch about this. Please can you email us at alumni@westminster.ac.uk, and we’ll see what we can do to help.
Best wishes
Jenny
Glad to read about the successes of my old alma mater, though I was there in the old days at what was then THE Polytechnic, as a student of modern languages (French, Russian and Italian in my case) from 1965 to 1968. The year after I left I went back and did an evening course on how to teach English as a foreign language. I ended up coming to León, in NW Spain, where I still live, in 1972. Keep up the good work!
The Group Mentoring for MBA final year Student- Entrepreneurs was very exciting and rewarding. They were great groups and showed a wide range of talents, which it was interesting to mould into a great team effort.
