Dear Alumni,
I hope this message finds you well.
It has been a busy summer with much to celebrate. As we round off another fantastic academic year, I am delighted to reconnect with you and share some updates from our university.
Congratulations to all of you who have just graduated and become part of our Alumni as our Class of 2025! It was such a pleasure to see so many of you on stage to celebrate your successes with your loved ones, friends and, of course, your Cohort in The Royal Festival Hall.
You have each faced different journeys and unique challenges to cross the stage – your perseverance, talent and energy have seen you through. And this is just the beginning! I am very excited to see your accomplishments out in the world. So do stay in touch and make use of the many resources on hand to support you as you hit the ground in your early careers.
Graduation is such a special moment, which I hope that many of you from previous years still remember and treasure too.
We have had a great few months, and academic year, here at Westminster. A great deal achieved, and good progress made on so many things. Our campuses have been so alive with studying, events, conferences, shows, clubs, societies and very much more. Our end of year shows seemed better than ever, with many outstanding, creative and unique students’ works being shown. Our research is flourishing with distinctive and impactful work being done.
Our students’ clubs and societies continued to flourish with some 13,000 students regularly active doing things they love, making friends, supporting wellbeing and belonging. What has also been very pleasing is that our ‘Dragons’ (as we call our sports and other society student members) are also achieving better educational outcomes. A real win-win. Our Dragons sports teams have excelled, both in the number of those taking part, and also in winning. All so heartening.
This year all our final year students graduated knowing and being assessed on how some of their work related to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals – powerful and hope-bringing for a more equitable, fairer, sustainable and peaceful world in partnership together. Our commitment to the UNSDGs saw us ranked it the top 13% of universities worldwide for our shared endeavours in creating positive impacts.
We were pleased to improve all our actual, benchmark and rankings in the National Student Survey this year and will continue to build on this next year and beyond.
We ended the year in very good shape and are already working hard to make 2025/26 even better.
We are so proud of all of you – our Alumni – whenever you graduated, whatever you do and wherever you are! We are all part of our distinctive, caring and creative Westminster family. Please keep in touch, look out for each other, offer to mentor or support our students and continue to be great emissaries for our wonderful University of Westminster.
You are Forever Westminster – Let’s Go Westminster!
Sending all best wishes
Peter
