Dr Moonisah Usman

Dr. Moonisah Usman, is a lecturer in the Centre for Education and Teaching Innovation at the University of Westminster, and Principal Investigator on this project. Moonisah graduated with a BSc in Biomedical Sciences in 2014 and was awarded a scholarship to complete a PhD investigating genomic instability in childhood obesity, under the supervision of Drs Emanuela Volpi and Ihab Tewfik. Her work has won several awards and has been published in international, peer-reviewed journals. She is also a part of the Centre for Social Justice Research at Westminster, where she investigates anti-racist pedagogy for equitable outcomes in higher education and society. 

Dr Rosa Schiano-Phan

Dr Rosa Schiano-Phan, is a Reader at the University of Westminster where since 2013 she set up new BSc and MSc courses in Architecture and Environmental Design. Rosa is course leader of the MSc and supervises PhD students in Environmental Design. Rosa’s research has played a major role in developing methodologies for the quantification of the performance of passive cooling through porous ceramic and the post occupancy evaluation of buildings employing innovative natural cooling methods. Another area of her research relates to the quantification of the wider impact of environmental design strategies in heritage sites and the mapping of their climatic applicability at regional and national scales. She is a co-investigator of an ongoing QHT-funded research on links between the built environment, air quality, and health and a member of the Westminster Genome Health Hub for transdisciplinary research. Rosa is passionate about Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), She is the co-founder of the first Women of Westminster Colleagues’ Network (WOW) and currently co-PI of the Women In Construction project funded by The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation. She is the co-author of the book The Architecture of Natural Cooling, published by Routledge (2020).

Dr Maria Woloshynowych, is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology and co-investigator on this project. She joined the University of Westminster in 2017 and leads the final year project module for students taking BSc Psychology and BSc Psychology and Counselling. She supervises UG, PG, and doctoral research projects and teaches research methods as well as health psychology and individual differences. She previously worked at UCL and then at Imperial College London on projects related to improving Patient Safety, and where she set up and was course leader for the MSc in Quality and Safety in Healthcare. She is also a part of the recently launched Centre for Psychological Sciences

University of Westminster Research Interns

Aabha Khaparde

Aabha Khaparde, is currently in the second year of Biomedical science at the University of Westminster. She has a keen interest in Genetics and research, and she collaborates as a co-investigator contributing to scoping review by finding research articles and participating in team meetings. She is also involved in gathering information on various conferences and stakeholders.

Andrea Torres Fuentes, is currently a postgraduate student, doing her MSc in Digital Marketing Management at the University of Westminster. She holds a BA degree from Universidad del Desarrollo, Chile.  Her collaboration in this project is from the Digital Marketing side.

Arshiya Siddique

Arshiya Siddique, is a research intern at the Westminster Genome Health hub, concurrently pursuing a B.Sc. Biological Sciences at the University of Westminster. With a background in medicine, she actively collaborates as a co-investigator, gathering and analysing data, and engaging in team meetings and project research activities. 

Nicolas Guillot

Nicolas Guillot, is a third-year student at the University of Westminster, majoring in Architecture and Environmental Design. His educational journey has been shaped by a strong background in landscaping and a deep passion for sustainability and innovative design. He actively engage in research projects to expand his knowledge and skills, preparing for cross-disciplinary work. Particularly interested in working with WGHH (Westminster Genome Health Hub), where he can contribute his expertise and assist the team in achieving the goal of conducting a comprehensive scoping review. 

Triantafyllia Panagopoulou

Triantafyllia Panagopoulou, is a third-year student of BSc Architecture and Environmental Design at the University of Westminster. With a blend of expertise in health care and a passion for the built environment, her goal is to explore the intersection of human well-being and environmental sustainability. She is dedicated to understanding how to design and develop environments that promote health and wellness. By being part of the WGGH, she is advancing the team’s vision with an active engagement in research activities for the scoping review. Activities include collecting and analysing data, participating in team meetings and other daily tasks.
