The Chinese interpreting students from the MA in Translation and Interpreting have just spent 5 intensive days of simulated conference interpreting at the UN Office in Vienna, from22 to 26 April 2024.
The students honed their interpreting skills by interpreting for different genres of speeches, from generic policy briefings, technical presentations, line by line language discussions over conference reports, to slightly heated exchanges over politically charged fields.
Well done to all, this was a real challenge, and we appreciate your commitment!
Many thanks to our coordinators Xi Zhang, Mr Wei Zhang (David), Chief of the Chinese booth, as well as Ms Anna Chevrieux, Outreach Coordinator and Russian booth interpreter for making this visit possible and so memorable.
A big thank you to @Fei Gao, our Chinese conference interpreting lecturer, for organising and facilitating this event for the University of Westminster.
