Welcome to the Westminster University blog site on neurodiversity. It is work in progress and more material will be added in the coming months.
This site will be a space for the University community to share events, ideas, and resources on neurodiversity, neurodiversity, & related topics. Please feel free to contact (initially you can email r.aldred@westminster.ac.uk – in time there will be a dedicated email address) and/or contribute!
Neurodiversity: “the variation and differences in neurological structure and function that exist among human beings, especially when viewed as being normal and natural rather than pathological.” (Dictionary.com)
Neurodivergent conditions include autism, ADHD, dyslexia, Tourette’s syndrome, and many others. Perhaps as many as one in seven people are neurodivergent. It is difficult to know because diagnosis rates vary greatly, and because many people with a diagnosis do not disclose it, fearing being disadvantaged or discriminated against.
