In October 2012 the European Commission outlined its proposals to streamline environmental impact assessment. The proposals are intended to lighten administrative burdens and make it easier to assess the potential impacts of major projects, without weakening existing environmental safeguards. Over the next year Member States will provide feedback to the European Commission on their view of the proposals. This conference  provided an opportunity for a wide range of stakeholders from different perspectives including developers, policy makers, legal experts, regulators and EIA and other appraisal practitioners to set out their views. Presentations are available online.
