British Institute of Interior Design The British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) has merged with the Interior Design Association (IDA). The IDA, the business association for designers working in the commercial sector, will be incorporated into the BIID, the Government-recognised professional institute for the interiors sector. This significant merger will create one leading body for interior design that will set national professional standards, promote learning and debate and champion the value of interior design on the national and international stage.
Build Offsite An industry-wide campaigning organisation that promotes greater uptake of offsite techniques by UK construction. Buildoffsite is an alliance of clients, developers, designers, contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, government, advisors and researchers. buildoffsite champions better construction by acting as a catalyst in the use of offsite across all market sectors. Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment CABE started work on 1 September 1999 as a proactive, nationally-based champion for architecture with a role including urban design, education and community involvement and the development of a regional dimension in the promotion of good architecture. It will concentrate its attention on new buildings and projects in England. This is an archive of CABE work as it closed in 2011 and many of its functions transferred to the Design Council.

e-architect e-architect is one of the world’s largest architecture websites with around 17,000 pages. The principal difference between e-architect and other architecture sites is that it does not just carry news: on e-architect buildings can be searched by country, city or by type. You can also search for buildings by architect. The website features building news, events, competitions, photos, jobs, awards and products, and a range of building types from houses to skyscrapers, plus major landscape and interior projects.

The Environment and Gender Index
The Environment and Gender Index (EGI) monitors gender equality and women’s empowerment in the environmental arena. The EGI provides the first quantitative data on governments’ performance translating the gender and environment mandates in the three Rio Conventions and CEDAW into national policy and planning. The resulting information will help policymakers, civil society, and others evaluate progress and identify where the gaps lie in achieving gender equality in the environmental context.

Environmental Sustainability Knowledge Transfer Network
Part of the UK Technology Strategy Board’s Knowledge Transfer Network programme, the Environmental Sustainability KTN (ESKTN) is the result of a merger between the previous Environmental and Resource Efficiency KTNs. The ESKTN officially came into existence on the 1st September 2009 and is now the primary KTN supporting the Technology Strategy Board’s Environmental Sustainability Key Application Area.
European Centre for Nature Conservation
The European Centre for Nature Conservation (ECNC) is established in 1993 with the purpose to further European nature conservation by bridging gap between science and policy. ECNC has become a renowned expertise centre offering support to the development, review and implementation of European nature conservation policies. ECNC’s aims to assist in integrating nature conservation into the daily actions and decision-making of the general public, policy makers and experts. ECNC considers nature conservation to be an integral part of a sustainable society and economy.
The European Climate Forum (ECF) is a platform for joint studies and science-based stakeholder dialogues on climatic change. ECF brings together representatives of different parties concerned with the climate problem. The core activity of the Forum is to define and carry out joint studies; these provide arguments for long-term climate mitigation and adaptation policies leading ultimately towards a sustainable development path.

Provides access to data sets used in EEA periodical reports. The data sets contain aggregated data, typically on a country level, with a geographical overage of at least the 15 EU Member States. Graphs and, in the future, maps can be generated from the data sets. Information about the source of each data set and its geographical and temporal coverage is provided. The Directory of Information Resources is the EEA’s official directory of authoritative information (EEA publications, EIONET partners, environmental legislation, etc). Environmental management concepts and sustainable development is an extranet service and an information clearinghouse for NGOs, research groups, businesses and private enterprises in general. The State of the Environment Reports Information System includes documentation of environment reports in European countries. The STAR (Sustainability Targets and Reference Database) is an inventory of current environmental policy targets and sustainability reference values (SRVs) which apply in the EEA member countries.

Also has links to the Sustainable Development Research Unit which undertakes research and policy development which allows Friends of the Earth to identify and oppose environmental problems, expose those responsible, propose solutions and empower personal and political action.
The Landscape Character Network (LCN) is an informal network with a dual focus on Landscape Character Assessment (LCA) and the European Landscape Convention (ELC). LCA is an important tool for enhancing local distinctiveness and promoting sustainable development. The ELC is the first international agreement on landscape, devoted to the protection, management and planning of all landscapes in Europe. The network is open to anyone with an interest in landscape.
Natural Environment Research Council
The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) is the UK’s main agency for funding and managing research, training and knowledge transfer in the environmental sciences. Its work covers the full range of atmospheric, earth, biological, terrestrial and aquatic sciences, from the deep oceans to the upper atmosphere, and from the poles to the equator.Its mission is to gather and apply knowledge, create understanding and predict the behaviour of the natural environment and its resources, and communicate all aspects of our work. Publications include magazines, leaflets, briefing notes and brochures which give excellent insights into some of the big environmental issues – climate change, natural hazards, sustainable use of this planet’s resources, biodiversity and pollution.

Science for Environment Policy
Science for Environmental Policy (SfEP) provides an information service on the latest policy-relevant environmental findings in Europe. SfEP is a news and information service published by the European Commission’s DG Environment. Its aim is to help the policy-maker keep up-to-date with the latest environmental research findings needed to design, implement and regulate effective policies. SfEP publishes both weekly News Alerts and monthly Thematic Issues.
Scientific and Technical Advisory Panel (STAP)
The Scientific and Technical Advisory Panel (STAP) is an independent advisory body established by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) in 1995. Its areas of interest include: biodiversity and biosafety, land degradation, international waters, climate change and ozone. The panel is responsible for providing the GEF with objective, strategic scientific and technical advice on GEF policies, operational strategies, programs and on projects and programmatic approaches. The panel is also tasked with maintaining a database of institutions, networks and individual scientists who can provide the necessary expertise and advice to the GEF.
Europe
CIVITAS (CIty-VITAlity-Sustainability) is an EU-funded project which supports and evaluates the implementation of ambitious integrated sustainable urban transport strategies that should make a real difference for the welfare of the European citizen. The project, which started in 2002, is now in its third phase of projects, covering the period 2008-2012.
The Committee of the Regions is an advisory assembly of the European Union composed of 222 representatives of local and regional authorities. The Committee of the Regions aims to defend the subsidiarity principle, which says that decisions should be taken at the level of authority that can act most effectively. This means that the Union should only adopt measures that Member States acting alone cannot carry out properly, and that Member States should allow local and regional authorities to act when they can do so more effectively. The members of the COR are responsible both for providing the other European institutions with the local and regional point of view on Union proposals and for informing their citizens about the community policies that are decided and administered by the European Union. The Committee’s consultative works Directorate is organised in seven Commissions, whose responsibility is to support the preparation of Committee of the Regions Opinions (COR) on the proposals of the European Commission.Contains copies of the bi-monthly newsletter, press information, regional news and details of publications.
Community Research and Development Information Service (CORDIS)
CORDIS is the Community Research and Development Information Service. CORDIS is an important source on EU research and development programmes and relevant matters. It can help facilitate participation in EU funded research programmes, find partners, and transfer innovative ideas. The site contains daily news, helps identify suitable research partners and contains details projects carried out under EU programmes. It also holds a number of official EU documents and a listing of official contact points for information on research and development matters. The site also holds the ERGO (European Research Gateway On-line) database which provides a gateway to national research and development information services.
The CONCERTO initiative, launched by the European Commission , is a Europe wide initiative proactively addressing the challenges of creating a more sustainable future for Europe’s energy needs. Today, there are a total of 45 communities in 18 projects, each working to deliver the highest possible level of self-supply of energy.
Council of European Municipalities and Regions
The Council of European Municipalities was founded in Geneva in 1951 by a group of European mayors; later, it opened its ranks to the regions and became the Council of European Municipalities and Regions. Today, it is the largest organisation of local and regional government in Europe; its members are regional associations of towns, municipalities and regions from over 30 countries. Together these associations represent some 100,000 local and regional authorities. CEMR works to promote a united Europe that is based on local and regional self government and democracy. To achieve this goal it endeavours to shape the future of Europe by enhancing the local and regional contribution, to influence European law and policy, to exchange experience at local and regional level and to cooperate with partners in other parts of the world.
ELTIS: European Local Transport Information System
This EU web portal provides information on local urban transport and mobility issues. The portal includes a range of information and resources useful to local authorities. The aim of ELTIS is to provide information and support a practical transfer of knowledge and exchange of experience in the field of urban and regional transport in Europe. It should give the user the opportunity to explore best practices from European cities and regions, to search for specific transport solutions and to be informed about the state of the art in a given transport application. In turn this should help create a more sustainable living environment, one which provides greater accessibility and mobility to its inhabitants.
EURLEX: Access to European Union law
EUR-Lex provides free access to European Union law and other documents considered to be public. The contents of the site amount to some 2 815 000 documents with texts dating back to 1951. The database is updated daily and every year around 12 000 documents are added.
EUROCITIES is the network, established in 1986, of some 100 major cities from the EU, Norway, Switzerland, Central and Eastern Europe and the New Independent States (NIS). EUROCITIES wants to ensure that urban affairs are placed high on the European Union?s policy agenda and help make citizens’ voices heard. The work involves lobbying, sharing expertise, setting up innovative projects, monitoring progress, raising awareness and issuing publications.

European Council of Spatial Planners
It is an umbrella association providing its members with a common framework for planning practice, planning education, continuing professional development and the definition of professional responsibilities. ECTP sets standards of education and conduct for the planning profession; identifies, celebrates and rewards examples of good planning all over Europe, and engages in dialogue with local, national and European government.
European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound)
The Foundation is a European Agency, one of the first to be established to work in specialised areas of EU policy. Specifically, it was set up by the European Council to contribute to the planning and design of better living and working conditions in Europe.
European Institute of Cultural Routes
The Council of Europe entrusted the Institute to follow up the already elected routes, to co-ordinate and provide technical aid to networks, in particular in their development in Central and Eastern Europe, to initiate new proposals as well as to disseminate information and set up a database that will constitute the memory of the programme of the cultural routes.
The European Network of Local and Regional Authorities for the implementation of the European Landscape Convention (RECEP-ENELC) is an international association of local and regional authorities promoting the implementation of the European Landscape Convention continent-wide. It was established in 2006, under the aegis of the Council of Europe’s Congress of Local and Regional Authorities. RECEP-ENELC is part of Eurolandscape, a network gathering universities, civil society and territorial public authorities in support of the Convention. Moreover, it contributes, as a Partner Organisation, to the monitoring process of the Convention carried out in the framework of the Council of Europe. The website is designed to provide an up-to-date overview on the European Landscape Convention and its implementation at local, regional, national and international level.

European Spatial Planning: Adapting to Climate Change Events (ESPACE)
This EU-funded project recommends how adaptation to climate change can be incorporated into the spatial planning system. Part I represents the ESPACE outputs and final strategy from work carried out between September 2003 and June 2007. Part II will look at work carried out between July 2007 and July 2008, building on Part I by examining the barriers to implementing policies on the ground.
European Spatial Planning Observation Network (EPSON)
The ESPON 2013 Programme, the European Observation Network for Territorial Development and Cohesion, was adopted by the European Commission on 7 November 2007.The mission of the ESPON 2013 Programme is to: “Support policy development in relation to the aim of territorial cohesion and a harmonious development of the European territory by (1) providing comparable information, evidence, analyses and scenarios on territorial dynamics and (2) revealing territorial capital and potentials for development of regions and larger territories contributing to European competitiveness, territorial cooperation and a sustainable and balanced development”.
European Spatial Planning Research & Information Database
ESPRID, based at Newcastle University, is a web-based Information Source for researchers and policy-makers concerned with Strategic Spatial Planning in a European context. It contains material from academic books and journals, policy reports, plans and policy statements, databases and websites. It also includes information on relevant experts. It has been designed to be particularly helpful to those involved in INTERREG programmes and ESPON 2006, and to those developing spatial strategies across Europe.
This site provides the main gateway to information on the European Union, providing access to press releases and to the home pages of the European institutions. It also provides access by subject to legal instruments in force, legislative activity in progress, implementation of common policies, EU grants and loans, statistics and publications.
European Urban Knowledge Network
The European Urban Research Association (EURA) was launched at an international conference held in Brussels in September 1997. The aims of EURA are: to provide a forum for people from different disciplines and policy backgrounds to exchange information about findings from research on towns and cities as the basis for closer cooperation; to encourage interdisciplinary and cross-national approaches to research in and education for urban and regional studies as a professional and academic field; and to bridge the gap between academic, professional and policy interests, inform public debate and improve the quality of urban policy.
Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities has made all its data and publications available free of charge on the Internet.
Network of European Metropolitan Regions and Areas (METREX)
METREX, the Network of European Metropolitan Regions and Areas, provides a platform for the exchange of knowledge, expertise and experience on metropolitan affairs, and joint action on issues of common interest. The Network has members from some 50 metropolitan regions and areas and partners in many others. METREX contributes the metropolitan dimension to policies, programmes and projects on a European scale. The Network is a partner of European institutions, the research community, governmental organisations and other networks.
URBACT, a Community Initiative Programme facilitates the networking between cities from all the Member States around three larger objectives:
- Develop transnational exchanges between URBAN I and URBAN II cities, those cities having benefitted from an Urban Pilot Project, and all cities with more than 20.000 inhabitants in the New Member States of the Union.
- Draw lessons from the analysis of their experiences, policies implemented locally and propose innovative approaches to those difficult issues.
- Disseminate towards the actors in all European cities the experiences in those different areas, the lessons learned and the resulting proposals for approach.

The Centre for Housing Policy (CHP) was established in 1990 at the University of York with the aim of being a centre of excellence in policy relevant housing research. Tenant Participation Advisory Service
The Tenant Participation Advisory Service for England is a national non-profit making organisation that provides information, advice, training, consultancy, seminars and conferences on all aspects of involving tenants in their housing management. While much of the information is only available to members, there is a very useful library datatbase of reports and journals ; set of useful links; and access to a bulletin board and live chat.
Local Government
The Local Government Association provides information on the major issues affecting local government, details of current LGA activities and policies, and provides enhanced distribution of LGA papers. LGA member authorities have access to a range of added value features in the ‘members access’ site. This is a very useful site which is continually being updated and allows access to a large amount of useful information on best value, modernising local government, tourism, economic development, housing, transport, finance, regeneration, the regions, health, asylum seekers and social exclusion.

RUDI is a multimedia Internet resource for teaching, research and professional activity in urban design and its related disciplines. This is a subscription service from 1 February 2002. University of Nottingham, Institute of Urban Planning
This comprehensive bibliographies were designed primarily for use by students taking modules taught by Hugh McClintock in the Institute of Urban Planning, School of the Built Environment, University of Nottingham, U.K. The lists particularly focus on items on planning in England (and especially the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire areas) rather than other parts of the UK, although some important items from Wales and Scotland are also included. Several of the reading lists contain a specific section on (other) European / International material. With the retirement of Hugh McClintock from Nottingham University in June 2006 the ongoing management of the online planning resource has been taken over by RUDI.
Urban Futures is a unique research effort that seeks to establish and test alternative future scenarios, providing insights into the potential sustainability impact of today’s urban regeneration decisions. Urban Futures is a four year research project which started in May 2008, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). The project consortium is led by the University of Birmingham and includes the University of Exeter, Lancaster University and Birmingham City University.
The WHO Collaborating Centre for Healthy Cities and Urban Policy

International Making Cities Livable Council
The International Making Cities Livable Council is an interdisciplinary, international network of individuals and cities dedicated to making our cities and communities more livable.
London 21 is a London-wide network committed to promoting sustainable activities in the community. The Network is a ‘space or ‘channel’ through which network users can meet, interact, find mutual support and have access to information, form partnerships and so on. It is a neutral place where people can enjoy the sense of being part of a learning city. It includes contact details for over 900 groups working on environment issues in London; links to LA21 documents produced by London boroughs; and a conferencing service. This is a tool for increasing communication, disseminating information, and building community. Sustainable Development Research Network
The SDR-Network is sponsored by the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR) Sustainable Development Unit, and coordinated by the Policy Studies Institute (PSI) Environment Group in association with the Centre for Sustainable Development (CfSD) at the University of Westminster and the Centre for the Study of Environmental Change and Sustainability (CECS) at the University of Edinburgh. The UNWTO Sustainable Tourism – Eliminating Poverty Initiative (ST-EP) was born in 2002 at the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg.to promote poverty alleviation through the provision of assistance to sustainable development projects. The initiative focuses on activities that specifically alleviate poverty, deliver development and create jobs for people living on less than a dollar a day. The initiative has been strongly supported by several countries and particularly by the Republic of Korea, host to the ST-EP Foundation. ACI EUROPE is the European region of Airports Council International, the only worldwide professional association of airport operators. ACI EUROPE represents over 450 airports in 44 European countries.
ADVANCE aims to improve the urban transport systems in European cities. It supports cities and municipalities on their way towards a more sustainable urban mobility, thus assisting them to set up and improve the quality of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) and policies. It is co-funded by the European Commission through the Intelligent Energy Europe (IEE) programme. It helps cities and municipalities to implement and improve the quality of their Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) and policies through the ADVANCE Audit process. The ADVANCE Audit offers a systematic approach to identifying potential areas for improvement of a city’s SUMP. It compares cities’ mobility planning practices to an ideal sustainable urban mobility planning process.
This is an umbrella movement uniting the national environmental organisations, airport community groups, and individuals opposed to unsustainable aviation expansion, and its damaging environmental effects, including climate change and noise. AirportWatch aims to oppose any expansion of aviation and airports likely to damage the human or natural environment, and to promote an aviation policy for the UK which is in full accordance with the principles of sustainable development.

The initiative “Bridging the Gap: Pathways for Transport in a Post 2012 process” is comprised of GIZ, TRL, Veolia Transdev, ITDP and UITP. The initiative was formed at COP14 in Poznan to encourage international recognition that land transport should play a more important role addressing climate change in the post 2012 agreement and to bridge the gap between this sector and climate policy.

The Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) is a learned society concerned specifically with the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of land-based transport systems and infrastructure.
Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport
The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK – CILT(UK) – is the pre-eminent independent professional body for individuals associated with logistics, supply chains and all transport throughout their careers.
The overall objective of the network “Cities for Mobility” is the promotion of direct cooperation between local governments, transport companies, businesses and corporations, universities and other partners with a specific know-how in the mobility sector.
CityMobil2 is a multi-stakeholder project co-funded by the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme for research and technological development. CityMobil2 is setting up a pilot platform for automated road transport systems, which will be implemented in several urban environments across Europe. Automated transport systems are made up of vehicles operating without a driver in collective mode. They are deemed to play a useful role in the transport mix as they can supply a good transport service (individual or collective) in areas of low or dispersed demand complementing the main public transport network.
Civitas: Cleaner and better transport in cities
The CIVITAS Initiative has unveiled its new revitalised website, which contains a wealth of information on sustainable urban mobility. The redeveloped website boasts a more intuitive design and navigation, giving users greater ease of access. As before, the website is a platform for the exchange of information, case studies and good practice on sustainable urban mobility, as well as providing interested parties with all relevant contact information.
Running from May 2011 until April 2014 and spanning 12 countries, the EU-funded project CycleLogistics aims to reduce energy used in urban freight transport by replacing unnecessary motorised vehicles with cargo bikes for intra-urban delivery and goods transport in Europe. CycleLogistics will expand its niche market position and be regarded as a serious alternative for the transportation of light goods in inner cities.
Eltis facilitates the exchange of information, knowledge and experiences in the field of urban mobility in Europe. It is aimed at individuals working in the field of transport as well as in related disciplines, including urban and regional development, health, energy and environmental sciences. Eltis supports the creation of urban transport systems, which use less energy and produce less emissions, while improving the competitiveness of urban areas and the mobility and quality of life of its citizens. Created more than 10 years ago, Eltis is now Europe’s main portal on urban mobility.
EMBARQ’s mission is to catalyse and help implement sustainable transport solutions to improve quality of life in cities. Since 2002, the EMBARQ network has expanded to Mexico, Brazil, China, India, Turkey and the Andean Region, collaborating with local transport authorities to reduce pollution, improve public health, and create safe, accessible and attractive urban public spaces. The network employs more than 120 experts in fields ranging from architecture to air quality management; geography to journalism; and sociology to civil and transport engineering.
European Platform on Mobility Management
EPOMM is the European Platform on Mobility Management, a network of governments in European countries that are engaged in Mobility Management (MM). They are represented by the Ministries that are responsible for MM in their countries. EPOMM is organised as an international non profit organisation with seat in Brussels. The main aims of EPOMM are to: promote and further develop Mobility Management in Europe, and support active information exchange and learning on Mobility Management between European countries.
European Regions Airline Association
The European Regions Airline Association (ERA) is a trade association representing the intra-European aviation industry. Its membership includes 50 airlines and over 120 associate and affiliate members who jointly cover the entire spectrum of the aviation sector airlines, airports, manufacturers and suppliers.
Global Alliance for Eco-mobility
The EcoMobility SHIFT project (June 2010 – May 2013) aims at developing a method to assess, improve and promote the environmental sustainability of local governments’ transport and land-use planning policies. Municipalities will be able to obtain an ‘EcoMobility Label’ that values their efforts to improve the ‘friendliness’ of their cities, neighborhoods and facilities for pedestrians, cyclists, wheelers and public transport users. The EcoMobility SHIFT project is an activity of the Global Alliance for EcoMobility. It is co-funded by the European Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation (EACI), as part of its Intelligent Energy Europe (IEE) program. ICLEI, which provides the EcoMobility secretariat, coordinates the SHIFT project.
Greener Journeys is an alliance of UK bus and coach companies and wider stakeholders. It aims to maximise the potential of bus and coach travel in: Helping to drive economic growth; Boosting access to job markets, high streets, local services and leisure; Reducing congestion, local pollution and carbon emissions.

International Air Transport Association (IATA)
IATA is an international trade body, created over 60 years ago by a group of airlines. Today, IATA represents some 240 airlines comprising 84% of total air traffic. The organization also represents, leads and serves the airline industry in general. Traffic results are published on a monthly basis together with a quarterly Financial Forecast.
International Association of Public Transport (UITP)
UITP is the international organisation for public transport authorities and operators, policy decision-makers, scientific institutes and the public transport supply and service industry.
International Council on Clean Transportation
The goal of the International Council on Clean Transportation is to protect public health, minimize climate change and improve quality of life for billions of people as the world’s transportation infrastructure grows. By assembling a small group of about 30 top government officials and policymakers from the 10 largest motor vehicle markets—which together account for 85% of the world’s new car and truck sales—and providing them and other interested parties with accurate information about research, best practices, and technical resources for improving the efficiency and environmental performance of cars, trucks and other vehicles, the ICCT helps accelerate an urgently needed transition to sustainable transportation.
The International Transport Forum is a strategic think tank for the transport sector. Each year, it brings together Ministers from over 50 countries, along with leading decision-makers and actors from the private sector, civil society and research, to address transport issues of strategic importance. An intergovernmental organisation linked to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Forum’s goal is to help shape the transport policy agenda, and ensure that it contributes to economic growth, environmental protection, social inclusion and the preservation of human life and well-being.

OPTICITIES (Optimise Citizen Mobility and Freight Management in Urban Environments)
The three-year OPTICITIES project is helping European cities to optimise all modes of transport, for passengers and freight, by developing innovative Intelligent Transport Systems that can share data. These systems will help cities consolidate local transport data, and make this available to third parties, while ensuring secure contractual arrangements, an open market to avoid a monopoly, and adherence to public policies on critical data. The project is also developing standards for recording and sharing multimodal mobility data, so that cities can integrate data from all transport modes, locations and timescales.
Polis: European Cities and Regions Networking for New Transport Solutions
Polis is a network of European cities and regions working together on transport and related environmental and urban issues. Polis brings together leading cities and regions for the development of innovative technologies and policies in local transport. The primary objective of Polis is to support European cities and regions in improving quality of life through innovative measures for reducing congestion, enhancing safety, lowering polluting emissions, and offering better and equal access to transport services.
QUEST , the Quality management tool for Urban Energy efficient Sustainable Transport, aims to develop an audit tool that evaluates a city’s urban mobility policies, and to support cities in their efforts of developing more sustainable urban mobility systems. QUEST is co-funded by the European Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation, under the STEER programme. The project started in May 2011 and will finish in October 2013.
Sintropher is a five-year cooperation project, ending in December 2012, with the aim of enhancing local and regional transport provision to, from and within five peripheral regions in North-West Europe.
Sustainable Aviation is a long term strategy which sets out the collective approach of UK aviation to tackling the challenge of ensuring a sustainable future for our industry. A world-first, Sustainable Aviation was launched in 2005 and brings together the main players from UK airlines, airports, manufacturers and air navigation service providers. We have produced three Progress Reports to date, the latest published in March 2011, following ones in 2006 and 2009. It aims to continue to deliver on the goals and commitments identified in the strategy, monitoring and tracking the practical cooperative work being undertaken by signatories to Sustainable Aviation as well as promoting our efforts both within the UK and internationally.

Sustainable Urban Transport Project
The Sustainable Urban Transport Project (SUTP) Asia is a partnership between the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ), the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), CITYNET and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP). It aims to help developing world cities achieve their sustainable transport goals, through the dissemination of information about international experience and targeted work within cities.
The TRAILBLAZER (TRansport And Innovation Logistics By Local Authorities with a Zest for Efficiency and Realisation) consortium comprises local authorities, private sector industry leaders and communications experts. The group of experienced organisations , TRAILBLAZERs, will transfer knowledge and experience to the PATHFINDERs, a group of less experienced authorities. The project will run until 30th June 2013 and aims to promote Delivery and Servicing Plans (DSPs) across Europe. DSPs are key strategy documents that can help you cut costs. They manage deliveries more effectively and reduce numbers of journeys.
This project provides a platform for stakeholders of all areas of the European Transport sector to develop a common view and strategies of how four key goals of the 2011 White Paper on Transport can be achieved. The underlying assumptions are that policy making should be based on an in-depth understanding of all stakeholders’ positions and that co-ordinated action is more effective than solo attempts. TRANSFORuM focusses on the following four key goals of the White Paper: urban mobility; freight, IRS; and high speed rail.

It is a paper-free technical library devised to help you find the up-to-date documents you need when planning, designing and operating road networks in the UK. The portal acts as a one-stop-shop depository of web links to core documents produced by a range of organisations. It will help you find specific documents you already know about but will also direct you to helpful information you may not previously been aware of.
Established in 1990, T&E has grown to become the principal environmental organisation campaigning on sustainable transport at the EU level in Brussels. Its primary focus is on European transport and environmental policy with its work in Brussels is supported by around 50 member organisations working to promote an environmentally sound approach to transport across Europe.
TTR is a consultancy company specialising in the field of transport policy research.
The International Transport Forum Transport Explorer is an interactive tool that allows users to analyse transport data using an animated graphical or spatial interface. Users can view how indicators evolve over time and examine interrelations between indicators. Users can select colours for indicators in map and scatter plot view and create their own “stories” with animated graphs. The Transport Explorer includes all annual International Transport Forum Statistics from 1970 until today.
Transport Innovation Deployment in Europe (TIDE)
The mission of the TIDE project is to enhance the broad transfer and take-up of 15 innovative urban transport and mobility measures throughout Europe and to make a visible contribution to establish them as mainstream measures. TIDE will focus on 15 innovative measures in five thematic clusters: financing models and pricing measures, non-motorised transport, network and traffic management to support traveller information, electric vehicles and public transport organisation. Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans will be a horizontal topic to integrate the cluster activities. TIDE is a Coordination Action funded by the European Commission’s DG Research and Innovation under the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Development.

Transport Research Knowledge Centre
The Transport Research Knowledge Centre (TRKC) pulls together transport research and policy information that has been funded by the European Union or would be of interest to those in European nations. It is aimed at researchers, policy makers and transport professionals interested in “efficient, sustainable and user-friendly transport systems”. The TRKC website includes information on transport research programmes across the European Research Area, details of funding opportunities, a database of ongoing research projects, analysis and policy reports, links to related transport websites and a glossary of transport-related abbreviations. Users can submit project reports, relevant Web links or event announcements, sign up for an email newsletter and join the TRKC Support Community.
Transport Works aims to be number one website for the evidence and the arguments for investing in urban transport. It also aims to provide this information in a way that meets the needs of different audiences from the general public public and journalists through to academics and economists. It does this through both quick pdf and web-based briefings, as well as through a comprehensive capsule thematic ‘evidence base’ library. The website will also provide an up-to-date news service as new research and initiatives emerge around the case for greater investment in urban transport. Transport Works is supported by the major city region think tanks and organisations, including pteg, Core Cities, Centre for Cities and Campaign for Better Transport.
The mission of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) is to promote innovation and progress in transportation through research. In an objective and interdisciplinary setting, TRB facilitates the sharing of information on transportation practice and policy by researchers and practitioners; stimulates research and offers research management services that promote technical excellence; provides expert advice on transportation policy and programs; and disseminates research results broadly and encouraged their implementation.
