The House of Commons Treasury Select Committee has published a report containing conclusions and recommendations from its inquiry into the 2013 Spending Round. The Committee requests clarification on the Help to Buy scheme and on the economic case for High Speed 2.

The Housing Forum has published a report which argues that consumers must be given better information about new homes, in order to raise industry standards. The report, prepared jointly by designers, clients, manufacturers, IT specialists and builders, also recommends the facilitation of custom build housing by local authorities though the use of land supply and local development orders.

In May 2013 the Building and Social Housing Foundation held a consultation in Windsor to assess the potential for delivering new settlements in the UK. A group of experts representing government, academia, industry, landowners, developers and local communities sought practical solutions. This report and the twelve recommendations within it are based on the discussions held during the consultation.
