10 plays you can’t miss this holiday season

The Christmas tree has been decorated in Covent Garden. The lights in Oxford, Regent, Carnaby and all the other major streets have been ignited. The holiday season is officially upon London. And what is the better way to get into that festive spirit than seeing a Christmas themed theatre production? Here is a list of ten shows that you shall not miss:

Nutcracker

London Coliseum | 11 December – 5 January 2020 | Ticket prices from £14 

English National Ballet brings back an absolute Tchaikovsky Christmas classic. Travel back to a snowy Edwardian London, where over 100 finest dancers and musicians will tell you a story about Clara, her nutcracker doll and their legendary battle against the Mouse King.

White Christmas

Have you been dreaming of a white Christmas? Just like the ones you used to know? Well, your dream might just come true this year. Head to the Dominican Theatre where Bob Wallace and Phil Davis’ story will be brought to live by Irving Berlin’s music.

Nativity! The Musical

Goldilocks and The Three Bears

Take a trip down the memory lane together with the spectacular Goldilocks and the lovely bear family. This pantomime adaptation of the famous 19th-century British tale starring Matt Baker, Paul O’Grady and Julian Clary is a cosy and fun evening guaranteed.

Circus 1903

Immerse yourself in a magical holiday experience. The famous giant elephant acts by the War Horse puppeteers and deathly stunts by various performers will prove that the new golden age of circus has begun.

A Christmas Carol

Dickens’s Ebenezer Scrooge is back for another lesson this Christmas. Follow a classic journey through the antagonist’s life with the spirits of Christmas past, present and future and maybe take a thing or two into consideration. Matthew Warchus’ is magical, according to critics.

The Little Match Girl

A freezing Christmas Eve in an imaginary Italian town and a little girl selling matches to survive. A tragic tale by Hans Christian Andersen has left no one untouched. But, perhaps, Arthur Pita’s dance theatre interpretation will have a different end?

Rush to the peacock to witness the beloved snowman coming alive, in case you missed it the past 22 seasons. One of the longest-running West end show is suitable for all ages and is, undoubtedly, the best choice for all-family fun.

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
