What is Talent Bank?
Talent Bank is a unique member only scheme that gives, students the opportunity to find paid part time jobs at university. Students are paid the London Living Wage and can work a maximum of 20 hours per week. Talent Bank have many exclusive jobs that give students flexible working that fits around their studies. Flexible working with flexible learning!
How to become a Talent Bank member:
Apply to become a fully registered Talent Bank member on Engage, so you don’t miss out on our diverse jobs and events. Talent Bank has 2 strands, which ensures there’s an opportunity for every student to complete the pathway.
- Fill in the online registration form.
- Complete the online training for Talent Bank or attend a welcome session.
- Accept the Talent Bank guidelines.
5 tips for tailored job applications
Having a tailored CV and cover letter is a really important step, in showing a hiring manager that you want the job. This shows that you’ve made the effort with your job application, and that you understand the specific work projects.
- Include the research you’ve done on the company and their goals. Support your points with facts.
- Address the cover letter to the hiring manager or company. This adds a personal touch.
- Write the job you’re applying for. This will keep your cover letter clear.
- Discuss the relevant skills you can bring to the job. Show why they should hire you, and what makes you unique.
- Share what you hope to learn. There is no harm in having leadership aspirations!
- Use the Careers and Employability service for more support. Make the most of Westminster’s resources.
7 job interview tips
Got a job interview through Talent Bank? Don’t underestimate the importance of practicing for job interviews. Preparation really is the key to success. Don’t be afraid to shine!
- Practice different interview questions.
- Book a one-to-one appointment with a career consultant for a mock job interview.
- Breathe and take your time when answering the questions.
- Prepare at least 2 questions to ask at the end of a job interview. This shows your interest in the job.
- Research their company values, projects, social media pages. Being proactive makes a good first impression.
- Read the job description. Use this to tailor your interview answers.
- Make a list of your skills that align with the job.
- Smile!
