Over on the CREAM (Centre for Research and Education in Arts and Media) website, writer and PhD researcher Alice Mercier has just published an excellent report on the ‘In the Photographic Darkroom‘ conference, which was hosted by CREAM and the Institute for Modern and Contemporary Culture (IMCC) in June 2023 and organised by our own Dr. Sara Dominici. As well as being a scholar of photographic history, Sara is the Course Leader for the MA in Art and Visual Culture and the Course co-Leader for the MA Museums, Galleries, and Contemporary Culture.
The conference investigated the role the photographic darkroom played in the histories of photography and visual culture and how this space might have shaped ways of living and knowing.
