I was eagerly waiting for my Christmas holidays as it was going to be my first Christmas in London, a city that is known for best Christmas all over the world and I could not stop raving about it to my friends and family. My last lecture was on 15th December, also on that day there was a Christmas party hosted for all the law postgraduate students by the university. Even before the vacations there were numerous Christmas events hosted by the university that just took my enthusiasm on a different tangent. My most favorite memory was attending the Christmas Carol Service at St Marylebone Parish Church that was also organised by the university. I am glad that I had an opportunity to experience all these events as they were totally new for me and I shall cherish them forever.
To ensure that I enjoy my vacations to the fullest, on the first day of my vacations I left for Paris. Paris was in my bucket list destinations since I was a child. Moving to London, fulfilled that dream as well. Paris is one of the most beautiful cities in the world I have ever been to. I just fell in love with Paris, from the iconic Eiffel Tower to the amazing Disneyland and of course the delicious food, everything just stroke a chord in my heart. Paris was even more fun because I visited during Christmas so there were Christmas markets and decorations everywhere, adding more sparkle to the beauty of the city. I ensured that I was back in London for Christmas and the New Year. I was invited by a local British family for Christmas celebrations and was fortunate to have experienced the manner in which the festival is celebrated by the British. It was the best Christmas of my life so far.
On 31st December, I went to a New Year Party at Covent Garden. We partied there till 11 pm and afterwards all my friends and I rushed to the Waterloo bridge to watch the magnificent London Eye fireworks. London welcomed 2017 with a BIG BANG and at that moment there was more sparkle in my eyes than in the sky. It was the most ideal welcome to the new year.
In the first week of January, I left for another trip to Brussels in Belgium. From the very famous TinTin to the finest chocolates, waffles and ice cream in the world, this city has so much more to offer. I was so amazed to see the beautiful Grand Place, which is a UNESCO world heritage site and also the famous historical Manneken Pis. It’s a beautiful and peaceful city, appropriate for a short visit.
The day I returned, London received its first snowfall and the first snowfall of my life. I had never experienced snowfall before. It was an exquisite experience. Summing up how amazing my Christmas holidays were and now finally my classes will resume, I will always adore these moments. Even though I enjoy travelling to other cities in Europe and nevermind how much I rave about them, yet I always be a HARDCORE LONDONER. There is nothing like my London! <3
