Britain’s ‘biggest rally in history’ calls for Trump’s citizen’s arrest

A huge demonstration against President Trump’s working visit in February, outside Downing Street could be UK’s biggest protest till date.

On Sunday evening, less than hour after the event went live, it already had 1000 people going and over 2500 interested. By 11.00 p.m. the event had over 10,000 hits.

The Stop Trump campaign launched the rally on Sunday evening urging people to join the demonstration at Downing Street in a bid to carry out citizen’s arrest on President Trump on grounds of incitement to racial hatred.

The organisers told Evening Standard, it is hoped to become the ‘biggest demonstration in history.’

Sunday Times reported that President Trump’s upcoming working visit is said to have been locked in for February 26 and 27 2018. It is timed to coincide with the opening of US Embassy in London, reported the newspaper.

However, 10 Downing have not confirmed this yet.

The protest was announced by the Stop Trump campaign and widely supported and co-created by journalist, Owen Jones.

The details of the Facebook event read:

‘Put the date into your diaries: If Donald Trump attempts to sneak into the UK to open the US Embassy on 26/27th February 2018 and also pop into see Theresa May at Downing Street – he will be met by a million of us attempting a citizen’s arrest of him for incitement to racial hatred.’

Rather than a red carpet affair, Trumps visit is facing backlash, following the tweets row that erupted between the US President and Theresa May.

On Wednesday, the President retweeted three anti-Muslim videos posted by the Britain First Group, which included unverified videos and offensive content inciting racial hatred.

Mr. Trump’s actions drew him rage from all across the UK with calls for his State invite- sent by Mrs. May in January- to be withdrawn.

After Downing Street labelled his retweets as ‘wrong’, he tweeted to Theresa May, demanding she focus on tackling Islam in Britain, rather than criticising him.

His row has led to campaign’s like Stop Trump, calling for citizen’s arrest.

The Stop Trump campaign was set up earlier this year after the President’s controversial travel ban.

VOL has contacted Stop Trump and Owen Jones for a response.

At the moment of publication, the Facebook event ‘Protest Trump’s Visit’ had 6,200 people going and over 16,000 interested.

Could this be the Britain’s biggest rally in history?
