Working with Earth Heir has been one of the most inspiring, educational, and life-changing experiences I’ve had. The opportunity to work closely with a social enterprise that values sustainability, craftsmanship, and ethical business has given me insight into how meaningful work can truly make a difference. From collaborating with local artisans to developing digital content and exploring Malaysian culture, every moment has left a lasting impression on me.
A major highlight of my time with Earth Heir was meeting local artisans and Indigenous communities who produce beautiful, handcrafted products using traditional methods and sustainable materials. Seeing the amount of skill, passion, and cultural knowledge that goes into each piece was humbling. These were not just products—they were stories, heritage, and livelihood wrapped into carefully crafted items. Speaking with the artisans face to face allowed me to understand their challenges and aspirations, and it reminded me how important it is to protect and support traditional crafts, especially in a fast-moving global market.
One of my key contributions during the placement was helping the company improve its social media presence. I worked on creating and launching a TikTok account for Earth Heir, which was a valuable opportunity for me to develop my content creation skills. I learned how to use professional camera equipment and lighting to produce high-quality videos that could capture both the beauty of the products and the message behind them. It was rewarding to see how storytelling through social media can help connect conscious consumers with ethical brands and elevate the voices of those behind the scenes.
Throughout my time with the team, I learned so much about what it means to run a sustainable business. From ethical sourcing to waste reduction, from fair wages to community support—Earth Heir incorporates sustainability into every aspect of its operations. I participated in team meetings where these values were not just talked about but actively practiced. I was encouraged to share my own thoughts and suggestions, particularly around production ideas and content strategy. Being able to contribute creatively and be taken seriously gave me a strong sense of confidence and belonging.
Outside of work, the experience was just as memorable. I had the chance to explore both Kuala Lumpur and Penang, experiencing the rich diversity that Malaysia has to offer. I visited cultural landmarks, historic temples, art markets, and nature sites. Every place had its own energy and charm. I especially enjoyed the vibrant street food scene—sampling everything from spicy laksa and nasi lemak to sweet cendol and fresh tropical fruits. The local food was delicious, affordable, and a huge part of my cultural learning.
The weather, although hot and humid, added to the tropical experience and made every adventure feel like a summer holiday. I also had the chance to take part in local community events and activities, which helped me feel more connected to the environment and the people around me. Every day felt like a new learning opportunity, whether through work, travel, or just conversations with the locals.
Another important part of this journey was the amazing team at Earth Heir. I want to give a special thank-you to:
- Sasibai Kimis – Founder & CEO
- Wan Azreen – Retail Operations Lead
- Regina Shantini – Training & Community Lead
- Amarise Priyanka – Retail Assistant
- Masturina Hani – Special Project Lead
- Andy Tan – Finance & Operations Lead
Although everyone has their designated titles, what impressed me most was how each person regularly went above and beyond their core responsibilities. Their passion, teamwork, and willingness to support each other created a warm and empowering environment. It felt like a family—one that was open, creative, and mission-driven.

Thank you, Earth Heir, for the wonderful opportunity you gave to us.
Your trust, guidance, and generosity made this experience one I will always remember.
We’ve made memories, learned so much, and built friendships that I hope will last a lifetime. Who knows—some of these friendships may even lead to future business partnerships. The connections we formed are real, and I believe there’s great potential ahead.
In conclusion, my time with Earth Heir was a beautiful blend of learning, creativity, culture, and impact. It opened my eyes to the power of purpose-driven business, the richness of Malaysian culture, and the importance of telling authentic stories. I return from this experience with new skills, meaningful memories, and a deeper sense of purpose. I will always be grateful for everything I gained during this incredible journey.
