As the job market has become progressively more competitive, it is becoming more important for students to gain relevant and practical experience to improve their employability. Can your organisation support our students in providing ‘real world’ opportunities?
By taking on a student, you could gain energy and fresh insights, a different perspective to problems, and a new motivated member of your team. Candidates often follow up with positions in their placement company after graduation, so this is the perfect way to trial potential new employees.
The University of Westminster prides itself on bringing together education and industry by promoting work-based learning initiatives. We have dedicated placement teams, part of the Career Development Centre, based across all five of our faculties. We are eager to establish relationships with both small and larger organisations across the public and private sectors.
Our students are motivated to showcase their skills and to gain ‘hands on’ experience across a diverse range of disciplines including: architecture; biomedical sciences; business; computer science and information systems; the creative sector; electronic engineering; events; law; social sciences; and tourism.
Our work-based learning programmes vary in duration, from year-long placements to short-term work experience. We encourage our students to be geographically flexible and welcome any opportunities, both nationally and internationally which you can provide. If you are able to assist with providing a work placement or are interested in finding out more, please visit our Work Placements webpage or contact us via email at careers@westminster.ac.uk or phone 0207 911 5184.
Small Companies Big Jobs
The Career Development Centre in collaboration with NACUE, will launch the first Small Companies Big Jobs events on Monday 29th February and Wednesday 2nd March 2016. The event invites all alumni from the University of Westminster to showcase the opportunities for positions available for students and graduates within any start-up or SME you are currently involved with. This offers the unique opportunity to access the talented, hard-working students and graduates of the University of Westminster a chance to grow, develop and inject their enthusiasm into your company.
Interested in exhibiting at one or both of the events in March? Contact enterprise@westminster.ac.uk or phone 0207 911 5184.
