Professor Brendon Noble Represents IHUL and the University of Westminster at G77 and China Expert Meeting on Public Policy for Social Development
Professor Brendon Noble, Director of the Institute for Healthy Urban Living (IHUL) at the University of Westminster, participated in a four-day high-level workshop on Public Policy for Social Development, convened by the Group of 77 at the United Nations and China in Geneva from 16–20 June 2025.
Delivered by UNITAR and the Permanent Mission of Peru, the programme brought together diplomats from over a dozen G77 member states to strengthen key competencies in public policy analysis, formulation and implementation in support of the 2030 Agenda.
Professor Noble was invited to speak on the day’s topic: public-private partnerships, global health policy, and regenerative approaches. He delivered a speech on Regenerative Practice and Public Policy, urging participants to embrace systemic and innovative approaches to policymaking for sustainable urban development. Professor Noble engaged with diplomats, UN officials, and international experts to explore forward-thinking approaches to social development through the lens of urban wellbeing and sustainability.
“It was a great pleasure and privilege to address the diplomats of the G77 nations and China on such an important topic,” said Professor Noble. “I thoroughly enjoyed discussions and the high level of engagement in the potential of regenerative practice to stabilise a range of global challenges. I am grateful to our friends from UNITAR for their invitation to contribute.”

Professor Noble’s participation in the meeting comes shortly after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between IHUL and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). This strategic collaboration commits both institutions to joint research initiatives and co-hosted global events focused on urban health, equity, and sustainability.
“We are delighted to be working with UNITAR in such an important area of endeavour,” said Professor Noble. “We hold a common interest and passion for improving urban wellbeing, social inclusion, sustainability and health equity across the globe. We look forward to a fruitful relationship and have already envisioned a number of exciting projects of international importance.”
The involvement of IHUL in such a prestigious and globally focused event reflects its growing reputation as a thought leader in regenerative practice and related public policy supporting the health the planet and society.
