IHUL welcomes a new Emerging Tech & Innovation Systems Lead

Dr Daniela Gandorfer is a Lecturer in Law and a consultant working at the intersection of climate, governance, and new digital technologies. She is the co-founder of the award-winning Logische Phantasie Lab, which develops decentralised and ethical governance models—most recently through blockchain and regenerative finance initiatives such as de.RtB – A Decentralized Right to Breathe. Daniela holds a PhD from Princeton University and was a postdoctoral fellow at UC Santa Cruz.

Her work has received multiple honours, including the ASciNA Young Scientist Award and the Austrian Blockchain Award in three categories: Overall Winner, Best Smart Technology, and Best Sustainable Technology. Her book Matterphorics: On the Laws of Theory is forthcoming with Duke University Press (2026). She is currently completing an Executive MSc in Finance at LSE, focusing on financial architectures in emerging economic systems.

Daniela will be working with the IHUL team to secure grant funding and stakeholder engagement in global emerging technology and innovation sectors.

“We are delighted to have Daniela onboard. Her background provides strong support for our urban health and wellbeing agenda, which includes diverse data sets, climate change, pollution impact, human health and regenerative practice,” said Professor Brendon Noble, Director of IHUL. “We hope that Daniela’s is the first of a few strategic alignments by University of Westminster Colleagues to our Institute. The cross-university nature of the Institute provides an excellent platform from which to build meaningful multi- and trans-disciplinary approaches to some of the world’s toughest urban health challenges.”
