As the new academic year started in mid September, the students of Bsc (Hons) Finance with Management have paid a visit to the Bank of England Museum and London Metal Exchange (LME)
. The students gathered at Westminster Business School and the tour took off with Dr. Hafid Benamraoui leading the group of students. Our first stop was :
Bank Of England Museum
During the visit of the Bank of England Museum we had the opportunity of learning the History of the Bank of England. Not only have we learnt about the History of the Bank of England, we have also learnt how the cash note and coins in the UK have changed as time past. The big UK economy recession during 1990s was also part of the exhibition.
The Student have also enjoyed decoding a safe that was in the exhibition with the knowledge learned throughout the tour as the codes to open the safe. During this tour in the Bank Of England Museum, the students had the opportunity of gaining further understanding of the History of the Bank of England and obtain new knowledge. Next stop was :
London Metal Exchange (LME)
After visiting Bank of England Museum, we walked for approximately 10 min to reach out next destination; London Metal Exchange. It was a surprise for most students did not know what to expect during the visit. As we got in to LME, only 20 people were allowed to enter at a time. Luckily we only had a total of 20 people, so it wasn’t necessary to split the group up. We had a great opportunity of watching the live trading of Metals during our visit. We watched the live trading that happens in “The ring” where many trader or representative look at the settlement price or the current price of a particular metal across the room and makes trading through hand signs. It was overall very interesting and exciting to watch how the real trading takes place. The student had a great time at LME as they take new knowledge and experience of a live trading back with them.
