I’m Beatriz Paiva, business student from Westminster Business School, and last year I was browsing in the NHS website, looking for a dentist when I came across a fact that inspired me.
I read that the NHS recommend brushing your teeth for 2 minutes – and kids only do it for less then 40 seconds. Boom! I just thought to myself, perhaps I could create a playful teeth timer… and that’s basically how Tick Tock beaver was born.
My boyfriend is a designer, so from the initial thought to the final sketch it only took a week. We then decided to write a business plan and develop a prototype. A year later, the project is completely ready to be launched but we don’t have enough money to move forward – manufacturing costs are really expensive.
So, I discover Kickstarter – a website that helps inventors fund their ideas by ‘pre-selling’ the product to forward-thinking people that believe in new business.
Now I have 5 weeks to raise £20K to manufacture my product. Basically the way it works is, people can pledge £12 and pre-order a Tick Tock Beaver.
I’m also planning to produce some extra units to sell the toy online at a retail price of £16 (so it’s cheaper if you help the project now) and we’re also donating a third of the production to primary schools and dentists practices. The project started yesterday.
Please get involved and lets share! the aim is to bring healthier smiles to every family. Check out the Kickstarter page NOW !
