The MA Marketing Communications (MAMC) students ran in a 5K run around Regent’s Park to raise awareness and funds for Whizz-Kidz on Tuesday 2 June 2015.
Using the strapline “MAMC4WhizzKidz”, the run is to support the Whizz-Kidz’ key mission – to empower disabled children across UK and bring positive changes to their lives by providing customised mobility equipment, life journey services and skills training.
A donations page was set up at https://www.justgiving.com/MAMC4WhizzKidz
The project was initiated by the MAMC Deputy Course Leader Anne Barker who involved the course reps in all stages of the event management, working in close collaboration with the Whizz-Kidz fundraising and marketing team. Sophie Egan, the Whizz-kidz Fundraising Manager and George Fielding, a Whizz-KIdz Ambassador, came into WBS to present an interesting talk about the nature of fundraising and marketing for the Whizz-Kidz charity.
Anne noted “This is been a really valuable learning experience for the MAMC students, especially those involved in the organisation. The Whizz-Kidz speakers were very insightful and helped to connect the students with the marketing activities in this very important sector. The project is set to develop further- as we are planning to explore the case study in more depth next semester in collaboration with the Whizz-Kidz team and we are looking at creating internships for the MAMC students”
If anyone would like to make a donation to support the student’s efforts for the charity, they can do so at the JustGiving page of this initiative: https://www.justgiving.com/MAMC4WhizzKidz For further information about Whizz-Kidz please access the official website.
