My name is Minna Chen. Currently, I am a postgraduate student in Westminster Business School and studying Marketing Communications . I come from Shanghai, China. Same as London, Shanghai is also a dynamic and metropolitan city, which has become one of the fastest-growing cities in the world. Before I came here, I had worked in marketing and PR area in Shanghai for 4 years. All my ambition and enthusiasm regarding this course attribute to this 4 years of experience.

After 4 years of work experience, I began to realise that there are abundant of knowledge to be learned and long way to go before becoming an excellent marketer. Considering my major in undergraduate study was Finance with economics degree, it has little to do with marketing. I would like to lay sufficient foundation in marketing communication through academic learning, then utilise my previous practice to apply into my further job. Furthermore, stepping into another environment to see how marketing operates in a new country and their difference between my own country and others is essential for a successful marketer.

Coming to Westminster Business School would be an honour considering the excellent reputation about practice-focus this university enjoys with world-class curriculum and high quality faculty. As a student of Westminster Business School I can assure you that the university has a great balance between academic and social interactions. I do feel that. The mentor program for international students to have chance discussing with the people at management level in related company is extremely appealing to me. My mentor not only gave me an introduction of UK marketing but also helped me to immerse into UK culture. I think this is something most international students would want. Also, Westminster Business School can offer a perfect environment to be in the heart of London. London can provide you a larger platform, wider vision as well as numerous opportunities to see the world of business, culture and humanity. Have you heard a saying from Samuel Johnson, a famous English writer? “When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life.” I will say I will never be tired of life when I am in London. I think London can give you all you want.

My plan after degree completion is to try my best to find a relative job in London. I love this city and would like to put my previous working experience in China, learning from the course into the practice in UK.
