On Wednesday evening a group of staff and students, including the deputy vice chancellor, attended the AMBA Gala dinner at the Grand Connaught Rooms (a very stylish and opulent location in Convent Gardens). The Gala Dinner is a prestigious gathering of business school leaders, distinguished MBA alumni and journalists. One of the events during the dinner was the award of the 2012 MBA Student of the Year award.
This is an international competition and we were thrilled that one of our MBA students, Benedict Carandang from the Phillippines was short listed. This is a major achievement and demonstrates the quality of Ben’s achievements – they are clearly on a global scale. Although Benedict wasn’t successful in winning the award we were thrilled to see him up there on the stage as a finalist and he is a great ambassador for the MBA and the business school. The evening is a super opportunity for networking. I got carried away with meeting colleagues from other business schools and the world of business and industry, and ended up losing my delicious pudding by over-enthusiastic waiters.
