The Accounting & Management Society and its sister societies, organised an impressive masterclass with Instuctus Trading. This was an amazing opportunity for students looking to have careers related to finance and banking. This event gave the opportunity to Westminster Business School students to get advice directly from people who have spent years in areas of global banking, investment banking and trading. Events like this masterclass offer unique insight into the world of banking and finance for those students yet to gain an internship, placement or graduate role.
The event lasted more then 2 hours but it definitely didn’t feel like it. The room was filled with enthusiastic students and the two hours were well packed with valuable information ranging from the history of banking to career advice. Instructus Trading offers market leading investment and trading education from their offices on St James’s Street, London. Instructus Trading also offers careers workshops for students looking to enter the finance sector, providing the information and insight needed to gain employment and understand in greater detail, global financial markets and the firms that operate within them.
The session included:
Understanding global financial markets and assets
Working in a fully integrated investment bank
Investment banking divisions and roles
Entry level positions and what they involve
Insight into global hedge funds
Understanding and managing risk
Changing nature of the finance industry and new opportunities
Internship and graduate requirements
How to stand out from the crowd
Career advise
Extensive Q&A
