Studying in Hong Kong was both exciting and daunting. However, my summer school at HKBU was one of the most enriching experiences of my life. Hong Kong’s unique blend of East and West offered a world of contrasts, from the vibrant street markets to the peaceful hiking trails overlooking the city, incredible nightlife and mesmerizing beaches. Each part of Hong Kong had something new to explore.
I spent a month in Hong Kong attending a Java programming summer school this summer. We dove into Java basics like syntax, loops, and object-oriented programming each day through hands-on projects and group tasks. The experience was intense and exciting, enhanced by connecting with international classmates and exploring Hong Kong’s vibrant culture. By the end, I felt more confident in Java and eager to keep learning.
A cultural shock, being to the Chinese Opera the performance where heart moving, nonetheless The Museum of Hong Kong did not underdeliver as well, four huge levels of Chinese art from the Ming Dynasty, quite an eye-bathing experience that elevated my knowledge of the world
The Hong Kong Jockey Club, one of the biggest Jockey Arena in the world, where entertainment was at its home, with spectacular performances from international artists between the race breaks. Island Hoping was quite a unique experience as well, we went to the most beautiful islands around the Chinese South Sea in our mini yacht.
Looking back, the biggest takeaway from my time in Hong Kong was learning how important it is to travel as much as possible to discover the world and yourself as well. Navigating a new culture and academic system challenged me, but each experience fostered growth. I returned home with confidence, a broadened perspective, and a renewed excitement for what was to come.
