Westminster Business School held a reception for the members of the business community on the 30 May 2013 and this provided them with an opportunity to find out more about the work of the school. This reception brought together the business community, academics, and also our students who are wonderful ambassadors for the School. Everyone had a great opportunity to network and exchange ideas for the future.
During the evening, we had three inspirational speeches. The first was by Dr Andrew Summers, Chairman of the Westminster Business School Advisory Board, who welcomed guests to the reception and highlighted the distinctive features of the Business School in its wonderful location on the Marylebone Site (opposite Baker Street station) which has recently been re-developed as a result of an investment of £20 million by the University of Westminster. Dr Indu Shahani, Principal of H.R. College and Former Sheriff of Mumbai, had travelled to London for this event and she provided a fascinating presentation about the importance of international business and management education. This was based on her experiences of educating students in India and her knowledge of the Westminster Business School where she is a member of the Advisory Board. Finally, the Dean, Professor Barbara Allan, welcomed everyone to the event and highlighted the work of the school in the development of highly employable graduates, practical research, and knowledge transfer through a range of external activities.
The students networked with guests and clearly demonstrated their enthusiasm, energy and commitment to the development of their professional careers. Some students provided guests with the opportunity to tour the Business School where they saw our modern learning platform, our leading edge financial services suite, social learning spaces in the library, as well as refurbished classrooms.
Westminster Business School is one of the largest business schools in the UK. The school has strong links with London business and government communities. Our location and the state of the of art facilities make it a great choice for many students both from the UK and abroad. We provide our students with a wide range of opportunities both within the classroom and beyond it. These include opportunities for internships, professional placements, study abroad, volunteering and also business competitions. Our research is linked with a range of professional communities and this means that it is practically based and so makes an impact on individual organisations, sectors and broader communities. We also offer executive education and consultancy work in areas such as accounting and finance, project management, e-commerce and social media, and leadership and development.
We are always very pleased to hear from the local business community on how we can work together so if you would like more information please contact the Business School direct.
