E-Mentoring
DEN’s E-Mentoring is born out of the need of supporting our students and engaging with them during the times of COVID-19. It is based in three main pillars that allow students to develop their skills, their knowledge and their creativity.
Communication
DEN’s online mentoring, electronic or e-mentoring, has become an important social media tool of communication.
This has meant to continue to offer students the necessary support to develop their skills and knowledge without being in the actual university.
Online blended approach has supported the students to engage both with their colleagues and academic staff.
New platforms
Before the Covid-19 most of DEN’s e-mentoring approach was delivered asynchronously, through exchange of messages, emails, chat and text using computers or mobile phones. This has changed, we have had to look for possibilities of continuing to interact, connecting students, using alternative and synchronous interaction at specific times. Using remote technology such as a Zoom and Microsoft Teams have not only helped DEN members to engage, organise, deliver and sustain projects but also it has given them a different platform to build something new.
Academic support
At the present time DEN is encouraging students to reflect and write their experience of Covid-19 and or produce 3-5 minutes of a video-documentary. Academics and Alumni provide support for them with editing their articles and video. DEN’s online magazine and book will be an avenue where we publish them.
