With the support of DEN’s projects, we can provide professional learning experiences and practical work related to students’ fields of study within the department. Our students have been involved in various local communities, such as Race on the Agenda, and HopeTowns.
Some of our students have also benefitted from mentoring City and Islington College students.
This had a positive impact on students’ learning, as they have had to adapt their communication styles to meet the needs of other staff and students.
DEN’s projects help students not only with internships, but also in planning each mentoring session. Through them, students have developed good teamwork skills and learned from the support they provide for each other. Academics and local community workers have played essential roles in ensuring that mentors and mentees feel supported.
In Najaha Choudhary’s words, second year International Relations Student, “this placement experience of DEN has helped me immensely. I would recommend students to consider it seriously; it will develop and increase their individual growth, and learn from their lecturers and fellow students”.
