Mariam Selim is a PhD researcher at the University of Westminster’s Communication and Media Research Institute (CAMRI). Her doctoral research examines the portrayal of female characters in animation, focusing on how the Spacetoon satellite channel has influenced gender role perceptions in the Arab world. With a multidisciplinary background in media, communication, and visual arts, Mariam combines academic inquiry with artistic practice, bringing creative depth to her research. She is passionate about gender studies and the cultural impact of animation, and advocates for inclusive storytelling. Outside academia, she enjoys yoga, crocheting, knitting, and exploring diverse cuisines.
